Can't sleep

Went to bed at 11pm but back up now. Today's probably the first day I wished I did something else. Owed 2k of 4k on a re skim I did and getting no contact....had a £700 cheque bounce saying account closed and no contact from them....started a job today and house is up for auction....will be sold before I'm meant to be finished....tried to talk to customer today and he's claiming can't see what I'm worried about (told him I'm going to need each room paying in advance and he said fine but something smells really off). I've had a bad toe for about 9 weeks which flared back up yesterday so can barely put my foot down and had to do an 11 hour day today to stay on schedule. (I've got psoriasis so pretty sure its the start end of bad arthritis like my mums got).....not feeling the plastering love today:(

f**k sake lad, that's the s**t that puts me off working to myself, easier to just go to jobs and get paid every Friday . that's a lot of cash to be Lyng out. Is it worth calling round to the house to see that they say, surely can't hide behind sofa to pretend they aren't in.
 
Makes my blood boil when people mess me around for money. Seems to be getting worse in my opinion. Some jobs I'm asking 3-4 times! Almost amounts to begging! :muyenojado:

No If you're good enough to go do the job for someone they should have money on completion. For bigger jobs staged payments without a doubt. f**k lying out a lot of money to strangers. No good
 
Yeah go round. Asap. They probably will pay you eventually but probably run out of money. Is this the job off my builder and did you quote in writing? If so at least you have grounds for court action...... but if you push these people it will not come to that. Hope it all smooth out quickly.
Job your on if they paying in advance not a problem worth worrying about, trouble is once you get stung you will get paranoid about people. Anyways have a nice day and relax...... but defiantly go talk to the one that owes you asap.

As much as we all don't like it, that is business. Can usually score some up front for materials. Or bigger jobs part payments are a good way to keep risk down. But it's like s**t you buy from shops they have to buy it first too.
 
Keep your chin up Lodan I know what it's like been their but usually comes good makes you mad at times
 
Drives me mad people who mess around with a mans hard earned money.The wealthier the worse I find.

Have u tried contacting them again? I'd go around the house and ask them wtf the crack is. Hate that shite. Man out trying to earn a living for his family and some c**t wants to stroke him. Thank God it only ever happened Me once, few years ago when I was apprentice in recession, I was owed 5days (over 2weeks sadly for was down to 2-3day weeks due to lack of work, so I arranged to start with some one offering full weeks. And I couldn't even get hold him to tell him I was gona leave and no chance of gettin my dough. But thankfully was only a couple hundred quid to lie out.
 
Time for the hammer and bolster to come out knock on door when they open it walk straight past and say if I don't get my money it's all coming back down it's yours til it's paid for only way these f**k**s will learn
 
The chap who's cheque bounced contacted me today and said he used wrong cheque book but will get cash out for me to collect tomorrow so that's one down but just getting radii silence on the 2k one.....I'm not much of one for arguing on doorsteps but if he's not talked to me by Monday I'll be going round......its a pub so I'll start kicking off in front of their customers and see how they like that
 
It ain't one down til the money is in your pocket treat every customer and builder with suspicion until they become a repeat customer

The way I see it is it doesn't just affect you by them not paying you got a Mrs and kids and by you doing your part of the deal and him not paying he taking food out of their mouths I've had it a few times I've had to give the old chicken neck to a few builders over the years only been knocked once and I remember the graft it took to pull it back round hope you do get the money

These mother duckas stop thinking about us T***s as soon as the jobs are done , I bet he is cracking on with the decorating already and his Mrs is choosing the fittings , most of the time that's all it is but sometimes they have read the how to not pay for work guide, don't help us sleep any better though the tossers

I treat everyone with suspicion until I've been paid I've had the one where you finish job all packed away then have to make small talk for an hour then you have to say how about some money

You know me mate I'm to soft with most of um tbh I got a few jobs not paid up now , bit pissed off with one of them went out my way to find the artex in stock for the ceiling on that job and still heard sweet FA .:(

I've had to toughen up as to many were playing at being builders and were late paying even though I got job done when I said it would be

Hi. 1st thing is get on the fish oil for your skin and joints, buy from asda as cheapest. You should notice something happening to improve skin in 14 days. Take 2 fish oil pills a day for a month and then 1 a day till you die. Krill oil is good one but you need to buy online and keep your oil's in fridge. Also get epaderm from chemist and moisturise constantly. I put in small bottles and don't leave home without it. You can wash with it to. Avoid soap on skin. Re job. We have all been there. Nightmare! Take pictures of your work as you go for proof. Get payment request template letters off net and send out. If nothing happens file at small claims court. No need for solicitor as you can do it. Looks better to if you stand up and say he owes me x amount. They will pay or go bankrupt before court date anyway...maybe. All you need to know about it is on net. Good luck

why would you want the headache.
unless its repeated work around at least 50k a year.

i wont set up limited until i get 80k a year purely for tax reasons.
TELL THEM YOU NEED CASH.

You've got to be careful mate. You need t justify your living. They can look at each and every paper trail you leave and they'll leave no stone unturned if you get investigated.
Living like a king and your books show £8k a year will be red flagged.

you can get paid cash and still put it in the bank and do your tax return.
 
Back on the original subject. Why have a pay day loan when you can get interest free finance off a tradesman... pretty sure thats what happens (in there head) usually get paid when you apply pressure. I don't mean violently either, but nobody wants to be harassed for money.

ive worked for lads who set up a system to pay you on account...usually when they go on holiday.
its not everything im owed but a wage each week and the rest is settled when they return.

Specially when you put your heart & soul into jobs .
I've been owed a lot of money on jobs
But always been paid

Only my own sister piss taker
Ripped me off , for full house new window install & did cheap & at cost still owes me the labour ..
Who fookin does that !
Even took my daughter as no one to look after her , on a Sunday

Family and friends can be the worst imo. You do it cheap and they still look shocked when you hand the bill to them. Done at cost on materials and dirt cheap labour. Not worth getting involved sometimes.
