Skimmed out most of a mates house but he wants wall boards in bathroom the laminated waterproof type that city plumbing do. 8' x 3' sheets.
Done them before on good walls just stick em with evostick gripfill yellow tubes and hidden screws at the joints plus corner and edge trims , anyone do it differently ?
But main thing is he wants em on ceiling too, hands up told him not done that but hes happy to trust me to do my best ! So i was thinking batton across joists to level ceiling bang on and have one where boards meet . Then stick boards up to battons and screw at joint prop up to let adhesive sets then wall boards tight up against edges to support around perimeter? Any good ?

Its only a small bathroom about 80" x 60" so not mega area, i feel confident in doing it. Just looking for tips and opinions from any of you guys that have done it before ?

I normally use stixall for it. Are you on about the 250mmstrips of it or the 900 mm. Either way same process just wait a bit longer between fitting to give the adhesive a chance.

The 2.4m x 900mm sheets mate, the guys selling them said the yellow gripfill but is the stixall a higher grab ? The ceiling 2 boards will only ne stuck to batton and fixed only at the center joint im hoping with the wall boards tight up to them around the sides it will defy gravity enough ? Haha

I've just finished a large commercial kitchen that's had them fitted to ceiling, ive just text the fitter asking his process, will let you know his reply

I've never used these boards but would it worth plasterboarding the ceiling first (after the battens)to maximise surface for adhesion ?

I use stixall because it will do exactly that and I have always used it on that hydralock wet wall since a lad I know had a mare using pinkgrip. On the PVC stuff on ceiling I will brand at 600mm center's if needed. If the ceiling is flat and sound just stick it directly to it. Oh, and I usually just staple rather than screw.

He's just replied. They propped up each sheet using an 8ft length of 2x2 with a dead man until it dried. They used a heat resistant high grab adhesive as it was kitchen but standard is ok for wet rooms.

Thanks olican my concern is its only sticking to battons probably set them 12" apart from center joint so not as much surface area sticking to, as strait over ceiling which is painted would. But batton out will get it dead level for wall boards to sit up tight.
But il follow the 2x2 prop up that sounds good, maybe leave to set till next day ? I got other stuff to get on there so no rush.
What adhesive he prefer ?

Not sure how sound adhesive to painted or paper on plasterboards would be ? I want ceiling dead flat, level so I was just thinking if i counter batten across joists with
4 x1 sawn it be bigger surface area than batten and roughness will give better grip ?

Ah I see, I thought it was over existing ceiling. Can't you screw strips of board over or cross baton? I ve just text him asking his preference on adhesive. The ceiling he did was about 55m2 over a very busy kitchen.

The adhesive for kitchen was a German import , says he's happy to check tomorrow if you need to know. All ensuites are done with waterproof sticks like s**t. Swears by it

If you use good quality high grab adhesive you have nowt to worry about. I regular stick the ply backed wet wall to CLS on walls no problem and the PVC stuff on ceilings.

I use white sticks like s**t the most for sticking all sorts, and waterproof version is clear in clear tubes i think ?

I'm even considering sticking and screwing hardboard over ceiling with rough side down for good key ? as i know they can be fixed solidly then stick the boards over that with loads of adhesive all over them ?

Thanks guys i just hope the not so solidly fixed wall tiles coming off over what he says are rock solid tiles behind dont need to much preping to get flat n plumb for the wall boards, but soon find out when i rip em off.
