Plastering Courses
Plastering courses are an ideal way to get into the plastering industry, they give you the basics for which you can then go away and practice either on you own home or friends and family.
A lot of courses offer 5 days and 10 days. If you are unsure whether plastering is for you then I would do a short taster course and then if you think its the right career for you, then go away and book a 10 day course. You will learn everything from preparing backgrounds to rendering.
The most important part to learn ins the skimming as most of the work you will come across is skimming whether it be re skims or skimming on plasterboard its becoming very rare for plasterers to do float and set since the breath though with drywall installations.
Once you have got skimming sorted the principles for floating (applying a backing plaster) are very much the same so you tend to pick it up over time.
Now courses cannot guarantee you success, that is completely impossible as some students can pick it up quick and well others shouldn’t be left alone with play dough let alone sand and cement. So you need to give it everything you have no messing around you need to listen and ask questions its very important.
When choosing your plastering training school I would recommend paying them a visit first and see what the other students are doing and how they are getting on
you will also see how many students to a tutor the lower the number the better as you can get better one on one training.
