Slagging

Just wondering what's everyone's view on slagging other people's work. Been to look at a few jobs recently where owners weren't keen on the finished article.
They call you out to quote then they present you with the finished job, with no intention of hiring you, they just either want to knock the trades for money or want reassurance that it's acceptable. Do you just turn around and leave or you go into massive lengths about it?

Its easy to find fault with other peoples work and just because it rough does not mean its wrong .Not every one has the same standard of finish but as long as its been done correctly who is to say whats a bad finish and whats not.imo.

have to agree with that.... always told to not judge someone by your own standards...

Building trade is by far the worst for slagging other trades and same trades off over the rest of the work force in general. Plastering is the worst trade for it I reckon. People go out of their way to criticise others work to make themselves feel better. I've got to admit I was guilty of it when I was younger. Now I couldnt give a fook about others work.
I've known lads go out of their way to pull down someone's work who I've said is a good spread. Almost to bring my judgment and standards down. It's so cut throat in the northwest that's how people get one up on each other. Very sad!

I agree you never hear the hot shots when they are getting it rough because everyone has had them their the first to jump down their neck always look forward but never forget where it all began then it gets good it's a bit like a learner driver and the one behind is having road rage maybe it's plastering rage

I bet you're all s**t because you haven't got the balls to say anyone's s**t
I swear on my kids lives all work I've seen from subbies that has not been on for the firm I'm on for has been f**k**g dogshite and standards are getting even worse
f**k me i wouldn't let half of them be aimsers

You think its bad in the uk, you want to see the craic here in the west of Ireland for slagging others work! Shocking. Ive even worked with this fella and his work was atrocious yet all he does is rip f**k out of every job he sees. Even very good work. Ive never seen him give one complement ever! I guess its just a way of looking like they are the best of the best so they can get the job.

Me, I only comment if the work is terrible. If its OK and the clients are ripping it, I always ask them how much they paid and if its cheap, then say its them who is to blame.

I don't care what anyone says about my work I have always been paid and always had recommendations so who ever slags it must have a disturbed or obsession about other people's lives ha ha

Wasssat they say......."walk a mile in another man's shoes"

Criticism is piss easy.

Having said that, ........if right is right......if the work isn't right, well it must be wrong.

Buuuut, .....we've all heard them say " oh I wouldn't worry about that bit."......."it'll be covered by ...."........then all of a sudden we're on rogue traders!
