    Pva and sand mix question!

There's no need for grit on medium suction walls. Apply PVA at 5:1 or 3:1 and watch for the following: A reaction with the paint, it may loosen or begin to flake off: this means that the paint has not bonded properly. The time it takes to for the PVA to go tacky: this will give you an...

    Pva and sand mix question!

The rougher the better! For zero suction backgrounds, PVA needs to be almost neat with 30% sand. Leave to dry fully (the plaster will reactivate the PVA), otherwise, it will go off very quickly and you'll be left with a sticky mess ^_^
  20. Minh

    Pva and sand mix question!

There's no real harm in adding some sand or multi to PVA on medium/low suction backgrounds, but on very low suction backgrounds, you're better off using a bonding agent ^_^

    Around sockets again

With regards to the sockets, I've noticed that you do not loosen the sockets. I would recommend that you stick a layer of masking tape over the front of electrical sockets to prevent any plaster accidentally going into the switch or connectors. It only takes 5 seconds to protect a socket but it...

I wouldn't recommend using PVA but rather wetting the blocks instead. It's not really necessary to use GypPrime with Harwall either :-)

    Festool

Prior to Festool, I have owned Dewalt standard and XR series cordless drills. Neither of them are likely to survive if dropped off a step ladder. However, Festool products come with a 3 year warranty and they have the Centrotec system. They also have an array of attachments: right angle...

    Festool

I've had them for a few months. The battery life is good because they have brushless motors and charging is also fast. However, the CXS does not have the same technology so the battery life will be less. You can buy it cheaper from ffx.co.uk :-)

    a few questions

My advice is to not to use them on their highest setting: one fall and you could be out of work for months. Instead, I would suggest you buy a pair of adjustable hop ups. They are much more stable and at their max height setting they are perfectly stable. Straddle across the two to cover more...

    Using finishing plaster as undercoat.

You can use it as an undercoat plaster. To prevent it from cracking, layer each coat to a maximum thickness of 6mm (or it will begin to sag) and add succesive layers to build up the required thickness :-)

Problems with Skim Coat on Plasterboard

We don't discuss prices on this forum.
