Hi fellow plasterers, am about to start building an outdoor bbq using medium density blocks and I don't have a block cutter. I'm planning to use a lump hammer and masonary chissle to deliver swift accurate blows to cut to size, would this be the best option to cut to size without power tools. Any tips and advise most welcome.

use a 5" bolster, cut from both sides, first side, lump it just hard enough to mark, spin it over, second side, lump it hard enough to split it.

and if you find youve got more rubble than blocks go borrow a styl saw ;D
pugs right though.. but good luck ;D

Hey chaps, thanks for the good tips, used a bolster and not a crumb of waste.
The bbq is looking great, only the chimney to build then render.

bolster will be fine mate, sthill saw is a luxury not really needed for this job unless you gotta cut 100's
But you really should be building a bbq out of enginring bricks becuse of the heat and staining from the smoke, just and idea !!
