Help with silicone silicate top coat

Hi
I have a property with parmurex base coat sponged floated nice and flat, and primed ready to go.
Iv'e never used silicone silicate top coat...
Its the ceresit 1.5 mm grain
I have a mate who swears by spraying the gear and he uses a compressor and a hopper fed spray gun.
My questions before i start...
Can I start and stop with this gear if I trowel on and rub up? will it blend in as the runs are 20m plus?
Is it ok to thin the gear at all with a little water?
Will spray or trowel give the best finish?
Do I spray it in one coat or two?
and if I spray do I still have to rub up?
Thanks
Joe

Spray it twice and don't touch it with a trowel. Spray is a more coarse finish and not as flat as with a trowel.
I thin mine with a bit of water as per what it says on the tub. It doesn't blend well so always work to a wet edge or it'll scar.
