Hi all this is my first post so a little nervous but here goes!!!! ive got a garage to render in sand and cement but its on painted concrete blocks. Apart from meshing it! can i use an sbr slurry (which i have been told not to do by cementone) or are there any other methods i could use?

deane have you ever watched G** or bisexual porn ?...........does it haunt you not being able to talk about it ?

G** porn aside.......sand & cement over paint?? tyrolean an sbr slurry on and embedd fibreglass mesh in it with perhaps some mechanical fir tree type fixings for good measure. Personally in that situation i would only use a thin coat solution

that reminds me spunky, have you sent my new membership card for G** porn watchers anonimous yet?

the weakest link is the bond between the paint and the blockwork....anything that comes after has to rely on this. With that in mind it just makes sense to keep the weight down by using an adhesive borrowed from an external wall insulation system which is like a tile adhesive which you then embed a fibreglass mesh in to consolidate. A bandage if you like round the whole job. On this you would then use a thin topcoat available in loads of colours. For a small garage a couple of bags/buckets should be fine and a roll of mesh.
