Timber treatment

Hi, trying to work out whats the best way to get some form of recognised qualification in timber treatment.

been on a fair few jobs doing the plastering after remedial treatment work has been carried out to plaster up, but now seems that theres more and more jobs being advertised for plasterers with timber treatment experience.

any advice greatly appreciated
 
PCA technians training course? This covers DPC, timber treatments and waterproofing/tanking. I did one years ago.

I also have have a nvq level 2 in timber treatments and damp proofing for my CSCS card.

Being an approved contractor for a chemical compainy.

Theres a few ways.
 
Some of the chemical companies do there own training I think wykamol do some.

You our would get some kind of cert to say you attended a training day.

I did did one with biokil crown years back.
 
As Carlos says you can go to a chemical supplier and get a expensive pub lunch and bit of paper for a days sales seminar.

Or you could get the same thing with another so called professional body and pay even more.

If I am honest with you the whole damp/timber treatment profession is a joke, the amount of botched jobs done by so called experts is sometimes disturbing.

I have a kingfisher certificate from 1997, I think and I learned nowt except how these companies see builders as there to be ripped off.

Personally I don't bother anymore with Rep's as they are a pain in the arse and constantly want orders.

I go to the local builders merchant who stocks everything and issue my own guarantees for work I carry out.

But I have years of experience, cheapest way for you would be to do one of the one day seminars.

Is there a lot of demand for remedial's where you guys are ?

The Kingfisher rep up my way is spot on. He never tries to push any orders and is always on the end of the phone if needed
 
We buy all our membrain stuff though Triton chemicals. There rep will come on site meet the client with you, draw up the spec for you to price off then give you a Triton warranty at the end.

We have had them meet architects and engineers when they have drawn up impossible specs and stuff.

They are not all the same.
