hi all
been plastering no for 25 years and finding it difficult to find work in my area, decided to sell up and by a motorhome and get on the road and tour the uk and scotland for a couple of years, so put me tools in the back and been on the road for 18 months been finding work and doing ok (pays the bills at least) so bought a load of buisness cards and started giving them out on my travels, and advertising on the internet, only problem is when i get a reply its usally miles from were i am due to me moving on every couple of weeks so it not possible because of cost sake to dart all over the country to price the jobs, so come up with the idea of subbing them out to local plasters who are looking for work in the area of the jobs which come up, any ideas the best way to go about it and what cost should put on the job as i would have to get a % cos it would mean being more time on phone computer ect , ???

How are you going to pay people mate it shouldn't be that hard get a list of people interested price the job yourself and ask if there interested as time goes by you'll get an idea of what rates people are after, might even be worth telling the customer to settle up with the plasterer cash if it's a small job and you sort the rest

tour uk AND Scotland did we get our independense:RpS_thumbsup: Thats wot i get for going 2 the pub on a school night cant remember anything about the day b4

So you won't go and do the jobs because they are too far away, but expect a local plasterer to go and do it for you and bung you a few quid? What happens if the local plasterer is rubbish? You'll be made to look like a right chancer and may be expected to put the job right, which you won't do because you are too far away. Good luck with that. This time next year you'll either be a millionaire, or have Dominic (used car salesman) Littlewood on your case.

yes your right could end up having a gang of bad plasters doing the job and end up getting headaches ,, might try advertising for web page design work nocked one up today in about 7hrs take a look se what you think

Says 17yrs experience on your site!Thought you said 25yrs above ^ Which one is it mate?Oh and where are you based again? :rolleyes)

Tony that's life at the mo Both people lose our then they get wittered out unless there cheap lol

That website is shocking. Full of spelling and grammatical errors. It looks like it took 10 minute to knock up and would instil no faith in me whatsoever if I was a prospective customer.

Can't see this business idea working to be honest, sounds like too much hassle & headaches for a small amount in return! If you get enough interest maybe you could advertise the work on here for local lads & pay Danny a fee!But for this one I'M OUT!! :RpS_biggrin:

Dream on mate, good notion but it just won't happen. I would reckon you might get the odd job where you can quickly locate a local spread to take the job on - via your recommendation - but then you're relying on that spread sending on the money to your bank. Liking the idea of p*ssing off around the UK(and Scotland!) though.:RpS_thumbup:

What you driving around in? Is it a good 'un or do people come accross the carpark asking for "Two choc-ices please!" ?
