The next charity fundraiser..

..is about to begin. There are prizes to be won and some are money can't buy totally unique items. For those that missed the last fundraiser we raised a fantastic chunk of money for www.richardswish.co.uk (a small independent, family run charity helping children with terminal illness) every penny you raised made a difference so let's do it again. This time @JessThePlasterer has put forward a charity. Close friends of Jess sadly lost their son Josh and what followed was a journey of such monumental courage you can't help but feel inspired.
I feel like I'm going to overwhelm this first post so I'm not going go into too much detail for now so I'll briefing outline what's going to happen.
For the next 4 weeks I'll be posting videos, giving away tools, seeking donations and generally hounding every one.
It's not just about raising money it's also about raising exposure for a young charity that .
If your reading this and missed the last event look it up and follow me.
Thank you all in advance you were amazing last time , let's nail it again ...for Josh X

Jolly Josh was founded by Carole Kelly, in memory of her 1 year old son Joshua Kelly, who sadly passed away in 2017. Carole was a primary school teacher for many years before she became a fully time carer for little Josh. She found that there was a huge gap in the health support system, which meant that families who had pre-school children with disabilities and special needs did not have the means to connect and forge peer/professional support networks. Carole created Jolly Josh with the help of an outstanding team, in the hope that they could bring families together, share experiences, exchange information and eliminate isolation.

The official objectives of Jolly Josh are:

(1) To improve the quality of life of children living with a disability and/or life limiting condition.

(2) To encourage friendships and peer to peer support for families and carers of children with a disability.

(3) To help connect children with a disability to professional support agencies.

(4) To provide play and development experiences for children with a disability which may not be possible in the home environment.

(5) To provide a safe, secure and inclusive environment for children with a disability and their families and carers to explore.

(6) To create sibling support. Siblings are often young carers, we recognise them and help them to create friendships with those in similar roles.

Jolly Josh has currently been established 6 months and runs sessions every Wednesday at Springside School in Rochdale from 1:15pm - 3:30pm with the assistance of its wonderful volunteers.

Fund raising for Jolly Josh in the short term goes toward buying essential resources which stimulate children with complex needs. In the long term, Jolly Josh also has huge ambitions to widen its support network and to one day create a truly inclusive children's playground with a fully range of disability play equipment.

You've got a heart of gold my friend (y)(y)

Oli..... what can I say. You’re a wonderful wonderful person.

The Kelly’s are best kind of people. What they have/are enduring is unimaginable but they put all their strength into their beautiful little girl (who at four years old sneaks Josh’s picture into her bed), Josh’s brave memory and into helping others also going through difficulties.

Let’s dig deep! My heartfelt thanks to Oli and everyone in advance.

Let’s smash it!! X x

I chose Richards wish last time because I had so much admiration for Richard and his parents (Richard sadly passed away at a young age but his parents kept his wish alive and now help other children and their families with a terminal illness) Jess told me about Jolly Josh and I've followed their story for the past 6 months, to lose your child but to then continue to help others is display of character like no other.

..is about to begin.

Ooh! Time for a rummage in the unit then.

I did have something in mind for the next @Olican charity do, damned if I can remember what it was though :endesacuerdo:

Anyway, I'll be in for a donation or two. Keep us posted with how you're doing it this time. Will you be using anymore weird food preparation devices?

Thought I might.....turns out that despite everything, I was wrong.
I get up nice and early, scoff a bowl of overnight oats, walk the dog, pushbike across town, nodding to early folk, get to the office, fire up pooter and have a brew.
Press buttons whilst sat on my fat arse til dinner, have dinner and another brew, a little more button pressing, tea and biccies at 3, leave off 4.30, cycle home.
Years ago I wouldn’t have settled for being a wage slave. But, ......as I have zero debt, and I’m currently enjoying life it doesn’t feel a lot like slavery.
I always knew there would come a time when the aches and pains would outweigh the “job well done” smugfactor we all get when civvies wonder “how the fnuck did he/she/they do that?”........so I had a cunning plan. And now I put it to work.
So far so good.
Not missing the dirt, dust, sweat, aches on teency weency little bit........yet.
