Powerfloat/sponge

I've just bought myself a new toy hoping to save some aching shoulders & elbows!
My question is & I know I'm going to get ripped for asking but I'm going to ask anyway....
At what stage do you use the sponge & what sponge for what product?
I've tried it today on some OCR with the far left hand sponge & made hard work for myself as a result!! Do you use it when you would normally use a float or wait a bit longer &use it when it's gone off a bit more & use a bit of water?
I know it's going to be a bit of a trial & error until I get used to it but if you guys that have one can let me know what process you use it would be a great starting point for me?
Cheers

I bought one in the summer but the eibenstock one,is this the new cheaper one with more attachments,?I only got one sponge and scratch pad attachment,

I am afraid there is no exact how to and what to with the power float. You need to get your timing right. There are different sponges in the box , which will allow you to hit it at a different point and achieving different finishes. The one you pointing at is dense , if is the same as refina, which should be alright for ocr, but after floating first .

I’ve got the scratch pads but is it not a bit aggressive for scratching? Maybe for emergencies when it’s gone too hard but normal scratching I’m not sure.

There was a site done near my lake where they would put the Parex on on a Friday and sometimes not scratch it back until Tuesday or Wednesday! It looks surprisingly good considering.

The power floats should be sold wit all different attachments. That way u can play with them all and find what's best for u. I personally didn't get on with the power float. But only had 3 different attachments. I give my one to my mate. He likes it on bace coats. Iv never looked for it back.

So are people using the sponge attachments to rub up with rather than just sponging up after floating?

Do these things make arms ache holding them up , watched a few videos thinking I kind of don’t want to cut out sponge float using my arms as that’s the most enjoyable part especially last rub , holding it up looks hard work on the shoulders and torso

Yes I thought the same Pete. I mean put a sponge over after floating is hardly hard work is it?

U can use them for floating and spongeing. Hard on the arms after a bit. And a c**t around scaffolding bars

I'm also looking for one of these, what brand should I go for, eibenstock?

Are they ant good for K-rend hp-12 or Johnstone HP base coat when doing thin coat?
