Skim Over Joint Filler

Does Knauf Joint Filler and tape need unibond applied to it before the job/boards are skimmed over?

If the joints have already been taped & filled why are skimming the whole wall?
Because I dont want to sand the joints and screw heads down. I would have to apply a second amount of filler to screwheads and sand all 180 m2. The time would be huge so to speed things along I thought I would ask for a skim price.

I was going to rough finish the job myself but then I am just sick of it and want to move on and get it finished.

That’s 3 @Vincey

Starting to look more and more like butterbean

Sealing this jointing/filler compound..............does it have to be done days before plasterer arrives and left to dry or done by him on day?..................If it sucks moisture so much couldn't it be just wet with a brush and water hour before he starts to skim?

Haven't decided on which plasterer yet as got to call a few more Wednesday.

I’ve been skimming a room today I taped before Christmas, no need to pva doesn’t suck in hardly at all but that’s using the bg gyproc joint filler. Haven’t used knauf.

Cheers for this. i had decided to spray water on joints filler before plasterer arrives. I did ask Knauf last week..........heard nowt..........must still be on hols?

Why are you taping, filling AND skimming?

I have written earlier regards this but here you go.

180m2 of boards which will have to be filled again (2nd time - screws) then all sanded down (180m2 - 60+ boards and lots of internal corners) ............and no doubt touched up in places with filler. Mess = Unbelievable. Price for skimming while I am able to do other work.................suits me just fine.

Never heard back from Knauf.......great customer/technical care.

Must be very bad boarding.

Probably Steve after all I did it and I am shite at everything...................What are you good at besides disagreeing or finding fault with everything I say or do?

I didn't know you'd done it. Boards shouldn't need filler.

I'm good at lots of things. Boarding is one of them.

8'x4' or 2400x1200 with recess on long side edges. No recess on long end edges of boards.

If yo have bevelled edge plasterboard, then it has a drylining side which is recessed and a skimming side which isn't.

The two don't match up particularly well. I did a job a couple of years ago where the guy had filled flush board joints...it was a fuckign nightmare - he'd totally confused drylining and skimming, so now I have to plaster his BFO lumpy joints that he's filled with scrimtape so it couldn't even be sanded properly.

That is correct and damaged edge boards which mysteriously find their way into the middle of the bale..........so good job they invented filler?

There you go you see my shite boards in one of the rooms.

Picture 3 shows what the boards are screwed onto walls and ceiling. That room hasnt been boarded out yet.

And the last pic shows just how far out everything is. I admit it was all down to me as I built this large shed and I am totally crap.
