Hi all. Can anyone suggest any sensible ways to eliminate these craters from appearing or why this happens. Thank you in advance.

I wont be selling my tools...I need to do my house up and am after some sensible advise from plasterers who may know why these craters appear. Thank you anyway.

Someone asks for advise on plastering and gets told to give up or get a plasterer in? Is this a serious forum? Why not just tell me why this happens? Do you not know why? Is it not better to bring people up instead of knocking them down and being unhelpful? I worked in NHS for 20 years where my job was to help people, I also teach karate to help people feel more confident and happier in themselves. I've asked for help and get told to give up and get someone in. Milk of human kindness runs over on here

Whatever smoother09 offers I will give you £1 more .....I am not trying profit from this transaction you know karaoke ....sorry karate

You seem like a nice person so I will answer your question. You’ve got cat faces. Big ones. These are hollows. You can try fill them with fat as you go if you can recognise where they are.

You’ll probably only really see your errors when it’s all dry though.

You will beyond a doubt have to sand and fill everything you do. That’s not being unkind. It takes as long to learn to plaster as it it does to become a doctor. It’s your own house so fair enough if you want to give it a go but you’re really best getting in a plasterer if you want a decent finish.

Good luck!

Thank you. I think sponge floating should help with these. Sponge floating walls I did in daughters bedroom finished really well. Thought I'd try using just steel as I did on the course i attended and obviously not a good result. Many thanks for your time. Much appreciated!

Get a bag of easy fill. Knock up a little bit after you finish and trowel over anything you are not happy with. Let it dry out fully and it will sand down very easily.
Thank you for your suggestion. I'll invest in some. I've only done a small area as havent attemted to plaster for a while. Will get the sponge float and spatula out in future as had better result with those. Much appreciated!

Obviously we’d go on a course for a few days first! Duh!
