Is it true that the only reason for the mechanical fixings is for in case there is a fire.

Hi guys, need some advice on the mechanical fixings I'm buying, I'm buying these to fit: https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/Staifix-Insofast-Plasterboard-Fixings-ISF-18A-8520PK/p/776258?gclid=Cj0KCQjwkIzlBRDzARIsABgXqV8D1iDICQffIZfFY_hNV3MfHocc5olBJOGVdYKzXfOdD7EANEUK78waAmBKEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds...

What are the fixings supposed to be for. I been reading and it says it just in case of a fire and they don't fall off. I thought they were to secure the board better so they don't fall off generally, but if they just for in case off a fire I don't see the point. Am I right about that.

I need the fixings as a secondary fixing aswell as the dabs I used on the wall. So to secure the insulated plasterboard on the wall.

Hi lads need your comments on something, The plasterboarding is all going well ceilings have been boarded aswell as the walls. I want to ask my walls are 8.5 ft high and I'm using 6x3 12.5mm boards, the plasterer has put the boards on vertically from the top (ceiling) as the walls are big...

    Which thermal insulation boards

Was also thinking of maybe putting thicker insulation downstairs in the sitting areas, and thinner insulation upstairs in the bedrooms, the bedrooms are velux window rooms so have rafters and I have already insulated the rafters with insulation boards so was thinking that I might get away with it.

    Which thermal insulation boards

Yes after looking into it further knauf are not really ideal. I been ringing around for the celotex boards 37.5mm so 25mm insulation together with 12.5mm plasterboard so probably. Would have preferred the thicker ones but like you said very expensive but then I can across these on eBay anybody...
