Hi every one, I am looking some advice regarding using Bauwer plaster on the external walls of my property to help improve the thermal value. The property was built in the early 1950s with solid brick work and floated in s&c! Which makes very cold walls!!! I am in two minds to take the walls...
It looks like you got a good finish with the product. I bet you had to work hard to get it! Do you think it would be easier working to 15mm beads? Also do you find it skins up badly?
I would have liked to have worked on to a base coat, but Krend specified that I just do a two pass system with mesh. I personally believe renders perform better on a scratch coat!
Thanks for your review on the LW1, and by the sounds of it you uses it to great success!?
I do believe it's not a bad product, but the circumstances in which I was using it, and my lack of experience of using bagged renders made it hard work! If I am to use it again I'll use 15mm beads, first...
It will good to hear what you think of the material. I'll be finishing my job this week. The builder maid it a nightmare for me as he stuck the beads up, and he used 10mm beads!!! It maid life hard.
I'm also starting my job next week!
Are you working to 12mm beads, and doing a two pass system with mesh? I am also planning a next day scratch, but I am a bit concerned about how the insulation with pull the gear in eeeekkk! Lol
Evening fellow plasterer' s,
I am looking for product advise for using LW1 render onto a 100 insulation.
I have done plenty of K1 work onto block work before but I haven't ever worked onto insulation board. I was hoping some of you might be able to shed some light on the materials behavier...
Evening every one, and Happy New Year!
I put a post up mid last year asking for advice about running cornice in situ, I finally had a chance over Christmas and ran some!
I would like to thank the people who gave me advice, and I hope you are as happy as me with the finish.
Thanks all for your feed back, I will have to agree with the majority that bagged renders are far better than sand and cement! But I would like to give the silver sand ago on my next traditional smoth render job.
For the scratch coat I will comanly do a 8:2 plastering sand and cement with water proffer, and 10:2:1 sand, cement and lime for the top coat. I never used to have problems but the last two jobs I have done has sufferd a lot of cracking! And I can't afford for this to keep happening!
