Site spread vs house basher

Yeah then we got it all back and more when we had to go put right all the skimmers work @

i used to help out a property developer in lytham...the man was loaded.
i could only work weekends due to site work being my routine.
£280 cash a day for doing next to nothing.
when the crash kicked in he would only pay £80 on all his trades.
as long as the goverment kept paying the rent for families out of work....he just got richer and richer.
mad how the world works.
then again ive heard hes ill through drink.

Rendering on building sites.... bliss
Rendering on domestic jobs....dreadfull
Cleaning up, what cleaning up.where we going to wash the machine out, oh doesn't matter the pavings not down yet.where's the skip going to go, oh doesn't matter.what about mono dust going on the neighbours flower beds, ah no bother, residual heat on the wall, ah no boiler yet.

housebashings 1400 a week with the minimum of drama no going out of an evening pricing s**t up along with 3 other spreads and without ever having to queue up with the diy Derek's in wickes.
Not many domestics could consistently earn that on a weekly basis,, I agree it ain't rocket science but also a lot of educated university graduates don't even go on to earn money like that. I would think myself very lucky if I earned that,,,, and that's not a dig.

£1900 this week sir lol.....im working the weekend :envidioso:envidioso.

I've accidentally agreed to work tomorrow by mistake I didn't really understand what matey was saying as he was properly Norfolk I just smiled alot and tried to nod in the right places till i fell into the trap and it was too late to say no billox, expect he'll probably try and pay me in shiney pebbles and mammoth pelts too.

i have worked on both site and domestics. both are easy to earn in boom times like now. when the downturn comes and i have seen plenty of them , the site workers have no contacts to see them over these times and it is very hard to try to start a domestic business in a down turn.

we went to help a gang of site plasterers out this week for one day on a very large house that is behind program. they are good skimmers not even a pin hole in the finish, but the amount of Fs and Bs that went on all day you could not take this team into a clients home.

I dont talk money on a Forum, i just do domestic work, do all my own prep and clearing up, nice small hits and take a fair wage.

Same here. The other good thing is you’re building a reputation, many customers don’t want the cheapest they want quality. One job very often leads to more.

You can be the best spread in the world on site but if someone undercuts you then you’re dropped on your head overnight.

Had a moderately heated discussion today after I made a comment on a job, it was a fully boarded out extension. I basically said it's a well deserved break as I only do domestic re-skims, which seemed to trigger a spread who only really does site work. I might have said I could teach my toddler to skim plasterboard, but re-skims having to deal with artex, blown old walls, 4 walls all going off at different times etc etc etc was much more difficult than just skimming board day in day out.

Thoughts?

Different mind sets ptibsbky
