speedskim st600 blade

I noticed that today actually, it seems to be a magnet for a grain of grit, then pulls it through the work. So far it seems safe for a first flatten.

Its normally perfect after the first coat and the second coat ahould only be a really tight coat
Eyup lads,I asked all the same questions a few weeks ago, stuck at it & now I use the speedskim all the way through. Lay on 1st coat & straighten with 1200,top it off & drop down to 600 to the end.only thing I find is round the beads needs tweaking with plastic refina trowel.fit it on pole for ceiling & leave stilts in van mate.ive had 3 back ops,1rotator op & I’m seeing consultant in may to book in for other shoulder to be done!! Speedskim takes all the work out of my day.i feel like I’ve seen gok wan, takin years off me!! Stick at it mate you’ll live forever!!

Have you tried using the st for the 1st coat and the sf for the 2nd? the metal strip really stops the dragging of potential grit.

How many passes do u need after flattening with sf must be close after
lay on, flatten out with ST, clean your edges, lay on, flatten out with SF lightly, then straight to plastic once it's pulled in for two passes or one pass if you use a second SF pass, then a dry trowel or (dry SF) at the end to close up as usual. I tend to only use the speedskims if I'm trying to lay on meterage or rolling sets in order to keep the setting time for the entire wall in sync and for backing coats, works a dream. As always every situation is different and sometimes using the speedskim to quickly flatten out a ceiling in the summer, just gives you that extra time to take a breath. As a preference I will always use trowel and hawk from start to finish incorporation plaziflex and MT permaflex. Speedskims' are just a really good tool and method for some applications and situations. All that said I hear a lot of people using speedskims start to finish, personally I'm sure it does work quite well and I will get round to trying it at some point but I love plastering and love my hawk and trowel. hope that helps buddy

Does anyone actually use a Marshal town only all the way through. I think I might start off with a Nela trowel and maybe go for the other tools later. At what stage should I use a Nela s*p*r*lex

I have used a speedy exclusively on a ceiling, two or three passes with the blue one then on to the metal one, only used the trowel to put it on, and once to trowel the edges. Looked ok painted, but I was prepared,to re-skim if it looked rough.
