Foil backed plasterboard

Hello, new to the forum... wondered if anyone could help?

I'm refitting my small shower room/toilet which is part of a loft extension. It is stud wall construction and plasterboarded. I've removed the old plasterboard which is all foil backed.

My questions are
1. Does the whole room need to re-boarded with the foil backed boards? Some of the walls are external so I assume the external walls do need this, but some are internal. Looking at the other side of the internal walls they all appear to be foil backed.
2. The wall the shower is on, is chipboarded and tiled. Is it better for this to be removed and plasterboarded, skimmed and tiled? Or will that not make a difference

Thanks in advance, Dave

I'd keep your externals foil backed, internals wouldn't bother.

Def get rid of chipboard. Bare PB is best for tiling on to, but in wet areas, best to tank it first with a brush on tanking system to waterproof it, or better still, fit Hardie backer or a modern lightweight waterproof board such as Kerdi, Jakko.

Thanks for the reply...
The shower area side walls continue beyond where the shower door will go.

If I go for the Kerdi system, could I board the whole room, get it plastered and then place a kerdi on top of a plaster (once dry obviously!) in the shower area? Or is there any other system that can do on top of the plastered plasterboard to make it waterproof? Such as Mapei Shower waterproofing https://www.screwfix.com/p/mapei-shower-waterproofing-kit/78484?tc=VT9&ds_kid=92700022904812289&ds_rl=1249481&ds_rl=1245250&gclid=CjwKCAjw2rjcBRBuEiwAheKeL5wBUEXmULJhYFVpuPYk2ZbMGSuvV273Y8TPYhTlIZC_IjtCgKSAsBoCex0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CJfQ5ZG4ot0CFYc8GwodcFEGDQ

Are you tiling the whole room, or just part tiling? You don't need to skim plasterboard before tiling, and there is no advantage to do so.
Use the mapei kit where the shower is going.
