Harris and Purdy still do 6in flat brushes not cheap mind but they last about 3yr if your not too heavy on them.

I use a seven inch flat emulsion brush as you say lasts about three years and if they get full of crap just let them dry out and bash em up a bit gets the multifinish out but don’t hit them to hard or the bristles come out, 23 quid my last one

Do u flatten skimming with this
 
I know it’s us oldies we used to get them off the painters when they had finished with them, now it’s just what I use

I had a couple of those paddle brushes after decorators on site when a young gun, once worn out I stuck nails in em to make a scratcher out of them. Still got a good wide paddle brush I still use sometimes, but spray bottle is cleaner.
