I took a cheque from an old couple yesterday. They said they didn’t like going out in the cold for the cash so I agreed to take a cheque. Been a good 3 years since I’ve taken one. Forgot how much of a ballache they are!
Rode to the bank in the rain today after checking online that the bank was open until 3. Couldn’t be arsed with traffic chaos so went on the bike. Got there, piss wet through and the shutters are down. Shuts at 1! Haven’t updated it online.
Internet banking or cash is the only way now! When I finally do get it to the back it’ll be another 3 days before it’s in ffs :crying:

Doesn't seem 2 minutes since used to pin them up on the board and wife used to take them every Friday was even a ball ache 20 years ago when knew no better!
 
Some banks have a useful part on the app if it's under £500 you can take a photo of the front and back of the chequesaves getting wet traveling to the bank or even finding time to go

f**k**g old people...lucky if I'll work for them at all, never mind take a cheque. No I won't take a cheque, you cheeky old c**t. Put your coat on if your cold and get out there and get me cash.

Lazy smelly old bastards. Take forever to do anything...I mean, how the f**k do you take cash out of a cash machine slowly? Or pay for groceries slowly?

When I'm 65, I'm going to get a bit of piano wire and some superglue. Then it's off to somewhere high for me. Piano wire to something solid and the other end round my neck, then I will superglue my hands to my head and jump.

The coppers will wonder how the f**k I managed to pull my own head off.

Remember when I worked in London, got paid by cheque. Job was nr wimbeldon, bank was shut so had to follow a boy to a pub in Kilburn nth London, mcgoverns I think, they cashed it but took a percentage, 3 I think. F*****g rollercoaster that was..

Yeah we used to do that every Friday back in day loose 10% or something silly so we could all go on piss!

How about doing us all a favour and doing your idea sooner. Possibly before xmas so we can all have a better one than usual.

No I just have respect for elders that wouldn't feel safe leaving the house to fetch large amounts of money whilst feeling scared walking there own streets.

Cheque clear in a a day know but not on weekend and ther app on phone u can scan your cheque in to bank so you don't have to go ther in the rain
 
Cheque is also proof that the person attempts to pay. Useful info if things turned bad. Cash is always best.

Yes cash is handy but I say got a nother 15 20 years of cheque book to go so many people in ther 70s stuk in the old way cant blame them that the way they been bought up and they can't change ther way

Thats not really the reason the situation has risen. Nothing wrong with cheques but the system was hated by banks who wanted all money electronically processed so that they could reduce staff and make more dosh. So the system has been forced on people. The aim and governments aim is to get rid of all cash but now they realise people will just invent their own currency like Britcoin or other.
 
Cheques not seen one of those in years. Takes me back to working 714 and getting your cheque on Friday and giving them a chit from your book. Usually the cheque could be cashed at the branch the company had an account with.

yes that the idea that the way it going whith most jobs reduce staff in most department. Closing banks in every village.Good thing is a computer cant plaster lol so we are safe for the time being. Unless roboplaster comes whith robocop one day

Or they make houses/homes in a factory and the walls don't need plaster?

They dont want even banks as they just want to make dosh without any expenditure. Also the government thought it was great to keep an eye on everybodies finances. Cant see you doing a job and getting paid in a dozen eggs, half a pig and 5 goats but somebody somewhere will start up an idea of a payment system.

The more cheques you accept the more you force the banks to keep the system.
