Priced up

So I've done a hallway today, ceiling, 3 walls (one was already plastered as I work for the guy before) a lot of angles, stop beads around the edge of ceiling etc. Messaged him with 210 price which I think is cheap but anyway, he says to me that why is he paying £60 on top of my wages. I'm like, you wanted me to get material too... so he says he cant believe that material was that much and that he's shopping around a lot and he knows the prices. Why people don't understand these things? I not even charged him for scrim , luckily he said he'll pay anyway but I bad taste stays. Have you guys had cases like this ? Cheers
Take money. Keep a black book. Note only work for him if desperate for work. Or Note never again. Depend how bad he treated you. Ive got one. I think I've got 4 desperate for work. And one never again.

Client thinks he's paying a wage, he's not, wagers get paid every day of the year. 150/day gives you less than 100 after stoppages and you have cover downtime, van, and christ know how many other things. You probably spent half a morning getting the materials, plus measuring up first or guessing it. And you've financed it all yourself until you got paid.
For some jobs I have a fixed price that I want for myself, plus the materials which can vary but are always charged with a mark up %. and usually quoted as a lump sum. And a deposit. Had one trecently didsn't want to pay a deposit until on the day - OK I said, when he got the price he was the one that cried off.

I don't. For straight plastering it's £250 a day including materials.

Two days a room.

£500 smackers all in.
I'd rather have 300 pound a room take two days to do it nice steady and few little jobs in between what the point in killing your self. Being at it a while now haven't seen a rich plastrers yet. But seen plenty of rich builders

I dunno about these boys here who say they do whole rooms in half a day.

I do lid and reveals. Two walls and then two more.

Bada bing. Day and a half - round it up to two.

Life's easy and the money's alright.

The way to be rich in plastering is to employ men.

Charge £250, pay £150 and you're rolling in it if you can keep even 3 of them and yourself on the go.

They can do it m8 but inperfections when light goes on.

The money debate goes on!!
It is what it is is if you're happy with what you earn then that will do,
One man's monthly invoices can amount to the next man's yearly invoices

I wasn't saying who should charge what. What I was commenting on was clarity.

I had this issue a few weeks ago told customer a dehumidifier would be £30 a day and he went to the hire shop and found out the discount. Had to back off and learn to word my quotes more carefully in future.

So I know for skimming 4 walls which is what I do in a day, thats 4 bags a few beads and a lick of blue grit - which comes to about £40 and leaves me £210.

So - I can give customers an estimate based on that pretty much over the phone

One thing I've learned about Red Robbo on here ( as well as being a left wing wankspittle) is he fkin hates anyone earning more than his top whack £100 a day rate and anyone on more than that should be
