Price per metre skimming on site?

The truth is that most plasterers aren't worth anywhere near £300 a day, let alone £400. In fact I'd go as far as to say that there are a huge number who call themselves plasterers that aren't worth £200 a day.

I was earning £180 a day average on site years ago at £2.50 a metre leaving a good standard of work. So I think if I was doing the same amount of work now I'd be worth £400 a day.

You’d hope so, but doesn’t always work like that. I’m all for trades getting what they’re worth, but the market will dictate as will the area you work in.

You may be able to command above average day rates based on your selling prowess, but you may not be able to fill the diary every day. That doesn’t necessarily matter if you earn enough to cut your cloth.

I bumped into a guy the other day who used to work with my cousin. He’d trained up this lad and another, and when he decided to wind down and go into building control, they set up their own company. Good pair of lads and they took on some decent size jobs (general building) but realised how easy it is to catch a cold on bigger ‘vanity’ projects and have now gone their separate ways (amicably) and target smaller but higher volume jobs with less stress.

Most of the so called plasterers aren't even worth paying full stop there works that shite .

That reminds me of the spread that taught me.
He would rather work 5 days than 2 days for the same money!
Because he'd go drinking on his days off and spend more!!
If you can earn what you need in 2/3 days than 5 then that’s being savvy and fair play.
It will obviously come down to personal outgoings and time of life. I think the older you get, the chase is less appealing for many.

Yes I get that to be fair.
Do many site spreads get the £5.50sqm needed for that?

we must have served our time with same spread , spread95,

i would go on jobs with him at the weekends, and whatever money he made he just wasted it on fags and drink, all the time , we would be in the pub and i would say, its about time we got back to them walls,i am the boss i will tell you what time to go back, he said, now go and get me a pint,

i stopped working with him on weekends after a while, i was more concerned about the jobs then he was,
and they were not my jobs,

Don't know what the rates are now. I did get £6m2 on a job few years
ago, was there for 6 weeks and did earn well but didn't push myself.
only did 4 day weeks and finished by 3.30 every day.

My first day in 1982 . My job was to fill the water butt while he fitted beads.
9.30 am we left for the pub, I didn't have any money so he gave me £20(my days wage)
More than I was earning for a week in my previous job. Pub was full of building workers on Mondays.
Learned more about drinking than plastering in the first year!
Used to have bottles of beer in the water butt keeping cool.
Crazy people,
Crazy but fun times!

I've never gone on what I can earn a day mate
always on what the site is worth
who's paying and where it is

I've got the 3 girls first houses deposits saved

fin can fend for himself now :birra:

Oh no, just you get working harder you f**k**g slag, you've got to get Fin's deposit together as well and he wants a really nice big first house, with a big drive to park his flash wheels on that you're also going to buy him. Then you can have a rest.
