Concrete & flag base - rendering with Weber OCR

Hi all - first time post here. Hopped in and out without an account for a while now (working on my house).

Taken great pleasure in learning internal plastering and gathering a few tools as I’ve done home improvements. I’ve got reasonable at doing walls, not tackled a ceiling yet (I decided to overboard and tape & joint my artexed ceilings).

I’ve now decided to attempt some external rendering, unless your advice convinces me otherwise!

Having some work done on my garden and there is a concrete base for an ali garage that is just hideous. Large aggregate in it, flags visible. It’s generally very solid and since we moved in (two years ago) nothing has broken or come loose.

My ideal plan is to render it with a product like Weber OCR, as that seems like one of the easier products to work with, then paint with a masonry paint.

I’ve watched quite a few videos on using the product, but obviously can’t find much information on working with a base like mine.

There is remnants of some black paint which I plan to pressure wash off first. Other than that I’m looking for tips on how best to prepare it, or if it is just totally unusable for render (in which case the frame I am building to clad the garage, I will extend down to bottom of the base and clad the entire thing). I’d rather avoid cladding the base as it might end up looking a bit industrial.

Any tips, tricks or general advice very welcome!
