Hi chaps,

Has anyone had the painful pleasure of a separation/divorce? Im wondering if anyone knows if she will be entilted to my van that I use for work (self employed) obviously I do have a solicitor but just thought I'd try and get any personal experiences on the matter. Cheers.

If it’s paid for then yes!
Any outstanding finance no because until it’s paid off it belongs to the finance company.

Horrible scenario.

Shouldn't even be on the table.

50-50 just don't sit right

60 - 40 at best I think it should be.

Just put the log book in someone else's name, sold it and borrowing it back

Ffs, it's bought out right, probably worth around £10k, she will try and get half of everything even though I've paid for it all, probably end up losing around 70k, I've sold my car and caravan, dirt cheap to my bro and dad, think mu mum might have to buy my van for 1k

Mate, she's shown her true colours, she's gaining a s**t load because of me, it's b*ll***s, I'm going to have to start all over again, 17 years I built it all up just for her to have half

course it would, put it in a mate's name that you can trust, and write a receipt for £500

How's it fair ? How can they do that knowing I need it for work ? So can she get half of all my tools aswell then ? f**k**g hell does she want half of my ritmo aswell, it's wrong

If kids involved you need work van to pay maintainence .
If no kids sell everything cheap receipts buy gold n bury it till it blows over ! I can give you a good place to bury it rather than burying her ! :tanguero:

I feel your pain, 17 years for me also. It's the lawyers more than the Ex - they tell them that they are entitled to half of everything. Going thru it myself and received legal advice, is yes, 50% after a long marriage irrespective of who put what into the kitty.
You cannot even make a private agreement with the ex as it has to be approved by a judge to be legal and final - more kerching for the lawyers, even more if you challenge the judge.

A lot of the Judges who do Families & Divorce are women, as are a lot of the lawyers - many with a burning anti-men split in their past. First thing they say to a divorcing woman is that he will try to hide his assets and lie about his income. Sets up the agro nicely for later..kerching.
Disposals have to be at market rate, proof of this that and everything, plus extra for the kids future education ('course they're going to go to college,) or the unsatisfied Judge rejects the agreement until their "recommendations" are included.
Depending on her lawyer, they might argue you can sell the van and buy a cheap 2nd hand one to keep earning the maintenance. That actually is do-able, your tools are worth f.all. Instead she'll have half plus, of your savings and any private pension plan.

My Ex is being very reasonable and blew the lawyers out, but I've still got to find a big wedge for her, but she's leaving my pension alone. Most of mine was earnt before we met, but apparently that don't count with the judges. I've bought her another car and luckily she is still working with a decent wage.

I don't regret getting married, and am sorry (heartbroken really) it's ended, but we would have both been better off financially if we had just lived together.

It's absolutely wrong how they always favour women, it's s**t, it's her that wanted this and she's just been awkward about absolutely everything, even about the kids, I've paid for everything and she just gets half, it's a joke, can I not sell My van now ?

How long have you been separated? How you doing now ?

When things end in divorce it all depends on the woman can’t tar them all with the same brush but the majority of women know where to hit a man where it hurts his kids and what he’s financially worked hard for his whole life anything else is worthless to them

Yea I'm not saying they're all the same and I genuinely thought we'd be forever, I didn't want this, never have done, I've worked very very hard for what I have, she knows that aswell but I did it all for my family, did a loft conversion at my house last year, I've done the whole lot myself, floor timber, new keylite window, double kite winder staircase, the whole lot and funded it all myself, still need to hang 5 firedoors and finish what would of been my youngest bedroom and she goes and does all this to.me

Sad fact of life mate women are strange beings I had three kids at the time she got the house too only a small amount of mortgage payments left c**t got a court order to put me out biggest laugh she commited adultery not me and now she's turned into a Jehovah's witness

Yea she ain't having the house, my solicitor has already told me she has no reason to stay at that house unless she buys me out, an yep that's what she's done, committed adultery, I've come to terms with loosing money from the house but I'll probably end up in clink if she takes half my van

Stay strong brother, what goes around comes around .

@loky11 you have to focus on getting you to the you that can be there after all the dust has settled. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride but you have to let go of a lot materially which fortunately is not the most important thing in life m8

PS has your ex Mrs been taking @Dollar ‘s advice lol https://www.plasterersforum.com/threads/anyone-believe-in-psychics.67095/post-1574051

It's gut wrenching knowing how hard I've grafted for it all, I'll build my self up again I know it but, as we all know plastering is hard graft

Stay positive mate, no good winding yourself up over what she's getting, who's earned the most as that's not the way you'll move on.
Solicitors, Judges legal system originally there to look after everyone ls best interests, but greed has its ways and exploits this.

You stay strong, keep healthy, regroup and keep your dignity.
