Wide joint block effect

Hi, anyone done wide joint block effect.
Like quoins but with a 40mm wide flat joint between them. Maybe about 10mm deep. I can do quoins but never done this before.
Any tips or info would be appreciated

Battens or pvc trunking type batts work well

But I like to 3 or 4 coat system it, depending on condition of wall. As the deepest part of finished groove still wants to be at least 10mm thick.

Draw a plan on exactly where each is going. And work to it.

These work well, I paid £45 twenty years ago. Expensive for what it is and gets used once in a blue moon.

I looked at those but noticed they are a V blade and I needed a square joint. I've done the job now and just cut them out like a quoin system. I then cut a strip of polyfloat to 38mm wide and 10mm thick and screwed it to the centre of another polyfloat. Seemed to work okay.
Thanks

Just so you know, the little blade is reversible - see the two bolts?

Flip it and it's a square cut

Just a piece of tool steel with two holes.

It's easily made if you want a circle groove or a wider joint for future reference. Refina used to sell them separately
