Not really plastering related but thought few people on here will be able to help...
I'll post pics...

Have old patio that's solid with no movement. Mid September I dug the weeds out, pressured washed...two days later when dry I mixed up a dry mix using builders sand/cement 2:1 ratio and added a small amount of Feb mix...used no water but the consistentcy of the mix was that I could compress it and was able to hold its shape without crumbling.

Hand brushed it in and used a finger pointing tool to compress it all in the joints, rebrushed and pointed using pointer. After all done I lightly missed coated it and must have done this twice in a 24hour period over the following few days.

Only a few areas aren't right and it's as if the mix has dried out not adhering to the solid cement underneath, as if water got under and pushed the new pointing out.

Someone suggested using a little SBR with the same mix and even going 3:1 building sand/cement aswell as a little Feb mix but add water so it's in-between a semi dry mix and wet mix...?

Any ideas? Plan to dig the loose stuff out clean dust and repoint the areas that have lifted. So rather do It proper.

Looks like the depth of the joints is not deep enough to me.
There's various options to resolve this the way I would do it.
If adamant you want it done with sand and cement whatever ratio and ad mixtures you go with it looks like all the joints would need to be raked out with a ginder or chisel so your mix goes deep in and gets a key.
After the joints are raked I would carefully brush sbr inside both walls of the joint and with having sbr in the mix aswell this would give the material the best chance to bond.
Or you buy a tub of 2 pack epoxy patio compound which is probably 10 times or more the price of the sand and cement but is much harder wearing and weather proof and easier to apply.
Inevitably you will get mortar shrinkage with with sand and cement and you have the frost and freeze thaw action to consider when looking for longevity of a job you want to last longer than a few months.

The original Paving has been laid with no joints
You are only filling the shamfer in paving slab

The paving is years old and was bedded on sand... they're on a slight slop so AVE moved with time so although some hardly have any space theres others with a good 10mm spacing...any help?
Would the sbr mixed in with above mix help for the joints I can at least push and compact the mix in?
