Should I use drywall washers on this bathroom ceiling?

Hi all,

I am renovating a bathroom and have put in a new ceiling using water resistant gypsum greenboard. I used 35mm drywall washers to support the plaster board but I am not sure if I should have because I heard it will make it very hard to skim coat / plaster the ceiling. I have very little plastering experience but this is a very small bathroom so I'll give it a go.

Would I be better off to take out the screws and washers and put just screws in new holes or should I keep the washers in place and plaster over them?

No concrete ceiling, the plasterboards are screwed in to timber joists.

So would I be better off taking out the washers and just using screws directly through the plasterboard into those joists? Then skim it with Gyproc Skimcoat Plaster and paint it?

Hi Mucky. Thanks for your reply. Sorry but did you mean Yes I should leave them or Yes I should take them out? Monkey Boy says take them out, do you agree with him so?

Put drywall screws in, don't break the paper, then take the washers off.
Use blue grit or something similar painted on the boards then leav it for min 24 hours then skim.

Yes screw boards to joists the way it's supposed to be done. (y)

Remove them

Normal drywall screws will do.

At least 5 across a width of each board.
