Applying for jobs

I'm halfway through the level 3 AET and Level 3 NVQ plastering in preparation for changing from plasterer to teacher.
Does anyone know where I could apply for a job without using an agency? Seems their cut is massive

Why not advertise to homeowner diy , good luck with it anyway (y)

Ain't @puddove a teacher
Yeah. Spoke to him a couple of months ago but didn't mention jobs. I'm asking because a friend of a friend has just been offered a teaching position that's 20k a year more than they're being advertised for...I don't want to be short changed by that much!

Think you make a good teacher mate. You gave me advice when I first came on here

Best of luck with it. You're sure to get some questions on taping beads, i think it is now in module 3 section E.

@CeeVee Whereabouts are you based? Loads of teaching jobs going but be prepared to do your teaching degree in your own time.
If you want a chat drop me a dm with your mobile and I’ll give you a bell.
DM dropped cheers.
I'm in Sheffield. Looking for FE jobs hopefully...nearly finished the old PTTLS (lev3 AET)

How did you get on with this @CeeVee?
Got an interview soon for a Lecturing position. Hard to know if it’s the right thing to do but it feels like the right time for me.

Got a lot of promises from agencies which looked good (moneywise), but was really close to getting a lecturing job at Barnsley college only to be told the money would be FAR less than I was expecting.

I've not been clever with money like a lot on here have so just couldn't afford the income loss at this time.
Got a call a couple of days ago for the £50 an hour teaching job thats being bandied about, so there is money out there.

Good luck. Let me know how you get on.

£50 an hour is really good money.
Did you do all the qualifications at your own cost then?
It’s a tough move, the risk of losing really good contacts bothers me. Wouldn’t mind if it turned out to be good but if it was horrendous, then I’ve lost the flow of work if I went back on the tools.

Is there no way of jumping on with the evening courses? See if it’s for you. Mate of mine took the plunge, hated it was back on the tools in less than 6 month. Gave him a good excuse to up his rates though.

Yeah did em all at my own cost.
You could do part time with an agency perhaps to ease in?

This is all I seem to be hearing
Not one success story.
I get the feeling the college have nobody on board, sounds like someone just upped and left so it’s full time and they get you qualified.
48 days holiday, starts on 32k, teachers pension.

thats a good package rossi, i would go for it , if it does not work out for whatever reason, back on the tools, but give it a go, be patient , give it time, going to be a big adjustment,

It was the cheek of the young guns that got to him. He was going in wanting to punch their faces in, depends how much you can brush off. 48 days holiday plus 104 days at weekend could still run your plastering business. :bailando:

That's the headline news, so you have to teach a hulking great brute called Jeffny every now and then, while decked up like a walking rainbow.
You can't have everything or can you?
I could roll into the job and trump the lot of the f**k**s by stuffing in some massive fake tits and a cucumber down my jeans, purple hair and a wheelchair with 2 stroke engine fitted. That’ll confuse the s**t out of them :ROFLMAO:

You left out Gimp mask, it's those little touches that make the difference.
