Advice on old plaster stain

Hi, couple of years ago I had an old combi boiler removed from the corner of an upstairs room, stripped the wallpaper and the plaster below was darker

to rest of the room. Since been skimmed and painted but the difference is still showing through. Can anyone advise on this and what the solution could be? Thanks
 
My advise is it is a good job it all needs hacking off as it has let you practise cutting in on a practise wall, every cloud….
 
Thanks for the comments. There has definitely been leaks from the old boiler condensation pipe in the past before it was relocated so it could be that the plaster was damaged beyond repair. The window has since been replaced and some repointing has been done on the external wall too. Perhaps the only way to solve is to hack out the old damaged plaster

U said stripped 2yrs ago but when was the reskim?


also I ask u again: was bonding coat used under the skim coat?

Is there a cavity in wall? Bonding not good on outside wall, esp if no cavity.

If cavity any cavity insulation? Insulation could hav got wet.
