S&C question

Hello what are your general rules that you apply when rendering s&c on old brickwork.( old s&c hacked off and back to original brickwork, which is old and dusty) what route is best. Know a few options but just want to see what you guys do. E.g slurry coat, renaid etc thanks

Brush it off, damp it down and scud it with a sbr slurry

Depends on what budget you have. Sbr mesh fibres etc all cost.

Scud it what you mean. I normally brush it on. Do I apply these methods on new brickwork aswel. I'm Used to rendering on new blockwork on site so domestic new to me. Just want to make sure it's correct

Depends on how far you want to go with spec and money.

If it ordinary common brick then brush down, wet down and apply sand and cement with a waterproofer added as a scratch coat.

Or go one further and apply an sbr slurry coat, sand and cement waterproof with reinforcing mesh etc...

I'd wash down
Apply slurry coat with a harking trowel 3/1 sand cement
Scratch next day with waterproof 4/1
Float after a week with 5/1
