    Insulting and external wall internally

If I were you, then I would not insult the wall...as a young man, I learned that even more than respecting your elders, it is necessary to respect your harders.

    Who.s saturday w**k*r

Should all work out good. Billed a bit high for everything. Thought some iron bannisters would take 2 days each. Turns out they take 5-6 hrs. Subbing to someone else Monday who's specifically told me to take 6 days to do a 3 day job. He must've agreed a day rate for it. Put in £200 to clean some...

    Who.s saturday w**k*r

I'm in today and tomorrow. I've just gone from one week's work that I priced to do in two, to four week's work that I've still got do do in two, plus I gotta buy a load of paint to do it, so I'm potless (have you seen the price of fekkin paint?) and doing 12 hr days for a while. Humbug.

    Gaps between boards

I think my boss just meant that he'd far rather deal with a gap than deal with plasterboard that had been fitted with a sledge.

    Gaps between boards

I was taught never to fit boards tight, but not specifically to leave gaps.

    Gaps between boards

@Tinytom speaks truth. Expanding foam won't fall out. Top tip, go and buy a professional foam gun....you'll thank me for that when you see how easy they are to use. Else it might be a new hairdo for you.

Anyone of u get this feeling

Perhaps if you did it properly then you might like seeing how it turns out. Walking about like something out of a Greek tragedy instead of doing your prep. That's your trouble, Pal.

    What the f**k

Work faster my Arse...I'm in Donegal and working faster than the grass grows is a sign of lunacy here. A trundle I have priced for and a trundle I shall have.

    What the f**k

You'd need to blow heat the whole staircase and there's not money in the job for that. I'll just have to three coat it....there's a weird little patch somewhere as well that's the same - like someone cleaned a paintbrush on the wall. I'll get it cracked.

    What the f**k

Andy G not prepping properly again. Mind, I can talk...painted a stairwell yesterday - all went well until I got to the top. Wall was very slippery for no apparent reason so I just boshed it on anyway. Come back this morning and half of it was on the floor. The paint still hasn't gone off in...

    Hand on heart

It's not so much realistic sets ....I been painting today but I've been skiving and having quite a few brews. The job is done and it's done well, but if I'm brutally honest, I could've done it in half the time that I did.

Dont want to be that guy but..

What about the little fella who takes you on because he needs you - do you think that he'll magically not need you on college days? Everyone is gonna have their own take on it.
  36. Stevieo

Dont want to be that guy but..

Why don't you worry about that when you find someone willing to take you on?
  37. Stevieo

Dont want to be that guy but..

You'll find that most of the lads on here who've had a 16 yo apprentice hated the little cnut because he behaved like he was still at school. Your age is good. Ring round and offer your services for cheap....then work like fcuk so's the spread has no choice but to pay you at least a labourers wage.

Dont want to be that guy but..

I mean don't they have any sort of introduction service?

Dont want to be that guy but..

^^This. When I started out years ago, I walked off site after a big fight with the boss - thought now what the fcuk am I gonna do? Then I realised that I don't have to accept every job. I still don't. I just advertised general building and property maintenance. Did some paths, patios, small bits...

I'm painting today, right on my doorstep. Put a price in for 12 days work....got started and found that for once, it;s all much easier than I thought...6 jobs, two days a job...turns out that the jobs are only 6 hrs each. Get in, easy street for me this week. Guess I'll have another cup of tea...

Ask at bnq...they'll probably have some anti mould silicone stuff....you know you can't paint it though, right?

    Advice

Can't make head nor tail of what you say either....do you mean caulk? Go to the DIY store. They have a potion for most things. Then as a temporary fix, try this or a related product...there's two kinds - getter offer and keeper offer. Won't fix your cold spot but it will help.
  46. Stevieo

    Advice

I can't make head nor tail of the picture but cold spot will attract surface mould. Big problem here because it's fuccing freezing and wet all the time and the Irish think that insulation is for wimps. All blockwork, then float and set. This is good stuff. I use it all the time, Using it today...

    Waterproof plaster for wetrooms

That's not what people want to hear. Generally, if I were you, I'd put my thoughts into waterproof paint. Generally seems to work.
