Problem with all of this is ...
Using today's standards to judge and pass sentence on the past..
The main thing is that it ended and things changed ..
Chucking coulston in the water won't change history
In the early 00s used to do all the plastering for a conservatory co.....
Lads had to finish plasterboard in a conservatory with a glass roof and of course it crazed
think we ended up reskiming it
Was a lesson learned
Martin
Not the best ....It's lacking the detail and due care ....
He should come back to make good/re do
But worse case is a few hrs with the filler and sand paper...
Don't know why people leave jobs like this..
We had. A outty lime job recently where the pipes had been covered in metallic tape
Trouble was they were back to brick but that doesn't give lime anywhere to bond to....and no depth to it either
We ended up cutting chase out wider
Electrician had run his wires and left them unpinned and...
I had a couple lads on books for about five years but decided to go back solo....
Best thing i ever did.....less stress but harder work..
Now my son works with me ....good as gold no trouble...
Mono St astier esp has mostly lime/sand with only small percentage of white cement
Agree with your Comments though ...they don't really want to tell you exact proportion cause it's a secret...
He would probably add some hydrated lime ..which will make it more workable rather than add breathability
We use bagged renders because we mix/apply by render pump and find the mix more consistent
You didn't ask for the cheapest solution and it comes down to what sort of job you want
You could go with a modern bagged lime render (coloured)
This will contain
Sand/Lime /Small amount of cement which will aid set and Will also be breathable
It's best if you find someone who has used the material before ..
Mono St astier or prb belle epoque would be ideal
I've got the standard gun but the plastic tube has split but have been looking at the long reach guns with the material shut off anyway..
Will try and buy tube as well though and repair the old one..
