In my new job they have given me a Refina MM30 110v. The trigger doesn't seen variable speed? On the plus it knocks up 4 sand and whole bag of cement as 1 mix in top gear a treat. 160mm negative paddle fitted.
Before I had a belle 1600e 110v which would have also done this be would have...

Yep there gear is the same as anyone else's.
The last firm I worked for used them. They never used renovating plaster so I can't comment on that but there dpc cream and woodworm chemical is the same.
It's all about the technical support you get. I know Graham Hugh's who's the midlands rep...
Yeah Timberwise. As fair as I know they keep everything in house until they get busy then sub work out. They seem to have plenty on in my area at least.

Another lad I know had his done same way. In Bidford. He did the same repair. To be fair pop rivets are very easy to drill out a welded repair would be better.
His van was emptied all but a few tools he left on site.

A pal of mine turned up on a job, opened the back of the van to find tools missing. Turned out they have butchered a hole through the roof with tin snips. Not a mark on the out side till you got on the roof.

Not Cox's but a close competitor. I'm not sure it's the same gear.
He did mutter something about it being an acquired taste to work with. But they like it because it saves a return visit to skim up.
I went for job interview with another firm yesterday. In usual questions the guy asked if I had ever used natcem?
Not even heard of it.
He reckons they use it all the time. Normally spec'ed for jobs under 5 m2 as they skin it the same day.
A Google around found this.

My gaffer gets tender drawing all the time showing membranes.
With a note saying. Delta membrane system to manufactures specs by approved contractor. Insurance backed warrantees required. They will often change the membrane manufacturer if you ask them if you preferred a particular brand.
If it's a big job the architect will normally spec a brand name. Like delta John Newton etc contact the manufacturer they always keep lists of approved contractors. Helps keep everything I order with the warranty side of things.
Expanding foam?? There is mean to be a gap. It allows for expansion and keeps the boards from rotting from the damp brickwork.
Once the wall is plastered and skirted the draft will only ventilate the base of the wall.
Check for any external defects. Inject dpc cream (probably not needed but...
Doubt it's a cavity wall.
Ensure good subfloor ventilation, and that the external ground level is lower than the internal floor level.
Are the Windows sealed correctly? Was the render you removed on good order? Does the bay have its own roof, in good order including the gutters and down...
For sure skim full height. I don't know why we don't as normal, it just doesn't happen.
I guess it's cost. I know a subby who gets £20m2 s+c and skim. If it's on stone if more for the extra thickness. An extra £10 to over skim the tops would cost a joke.
Rapid cement and skim the same day, no bother
If your doing a 3:1 mix dependent on back ground, but say 9" solid brickwork.
Go with 9 sand 2 opc 1 rapid cement. If you were going over tanking 2 rapid 1 normal. The blue circle extra rapid cement will set up in the barrow in 35-45min.
I have...
The blackjack would need to be cleaned with a solvent cleaner like white spirit. It's just a trade name for a bitumin based product. Same as riw etc
I know nothing about machines but cement based tanking should pump fine and it would be easier to clean after.
You need a good plastering contractor. You could hack off your self, but its best left to the plasterers.
Forget Pva it's not suitable for external use. Leave the prep to the plasterers.
Someone on here will be local and take a look. It'll probably be best left till spring now, due to the...
