    Job opportunity

I think the best money in this game is to be made self employed with a good semi skilled labourer. Sticking to small extensions, house fronts keeping below the VAT threshold if you can. Cash heavy.

    Job opportunity

It is a mine field and not worth the hassle. I’ve been into local colleges & skills centres and done demo days in front of 10-15 lads at a time, simply not interested. I dropped into the conversation what could be charged rendering a semi and they all then want a job. Unfortunately it’s for...

    Job opportunity

You will struggle @Vincey Just lost my 3rd of the year. 27 years old, gave him a van and fuel card & paid him £450 a week take home. Chucked him in a gang with a ritmo and silicone spray set up. No experience and got him off a plastering course through the job centre. Lasted 2 months and...

    How would you react?

Worth adding don’t go threatening them with court, either send the paperwork or don’t. Courts take a very dim view of people threatening with court as it looks like your using the courts to get money out of people. You can claim (maybe) £60-£80 for late payment if the final deadline missed...

    How would you react?

Probably not what you’d want to hear but - You should have finished the work Invoice as normal When payment doesn’t arrive invoice again with reasonable time to settle Invoice again, if needs be with a final request ie 14 days. Either send a pre-action protocol from the courts via MCOL (this...

    Apprentice getting to work

Think the best one I had was around 18 months ago. Got him from college, lasted 6 weeks and went back to college. Reason - He was better off in college as his mum could get benefits due to him being classed as “still in education”

    Apprentice getting to work

It’s shocking at the moment. Interviewed 7 a week ago and half of them had not even looked into the trade or the website. One lad, 20, when asked about wages said he wasn’t bothered what the pay was as long as it was more than his current job…. Which turned out to be fitting wheels to wheely...

    Apprentice getting to work

I usually try and take on young lads close to where me and the other lads live. We’ve really struggled over the last 3 years and have gone through 13-15 who leave after a few weeks / months for a variety of reasons. If they drive already it’s difficult as they want to start on half decent...

We’ve used high polymer basecoats in the past that can be difficult to spray and use, FASSA S650 and A96 spring to mind. Then we’ve had other like X32 ans Johnstones HP which seem to be easier.

What does it spray like, rub up like? It looks like the video with the MTEC has an external compressor, I’m not overly familiar with MTECs mind as we run a Ritmo.

Thanks, to be honest I’d rather hear from those that have used it rather than sell it. I cannot seem to find much information online other than the odd video and merchants that sell it. Thanks again.

Anyone used this or got any experience using it? Comes in grey or white. Any feedback appreciated.

    spraying johnstones SE

Johnstones silicone enhanced is not full silicone, in fact it’s got very little silicone in it and is made up of cheap glues and binders. To spray it, it needs diluting quite a lot to break down the binders, the problem with that you end up with a very weak and thin product. Full Silicone...

    Bennu spray gun

Spraying 1.5mm We tend to spray a pass then drop back with a second light pass. Credit to Dave in Barnsley (some will know him) as he gave us a lot of this info and helped us get going.

    Bennu spray gun

Over the years we’ve tried all sorts of ways to spray silicone. The open top gravity fed hopper gun, as said above, leaves a heavy texture which I was always worried would be pulled. You’ll need a decent compressor. The Bennu gun is decent but very expensive for what it is, you could probably...

As you can see from the above it was £1152 for 6 tubs. The email is there asking for the yearly membership money. If you like I’ll dig out my old RBS statements and show you where i transferred £1200 over to them for the ‘course’
