I sometimes hold bead in place and squeeze a bit of melted plastic from a hot melt glue gun through the gaps in the bead. sets straight away. have found as quick as any other method and less of a ballache than some.

As far as I can tell all emulsions have at least some poly vinyl in them - just varying amounts, but contract matt has less than silk and ordinary matt but more solids so is good for coverage & being matt - provides enough key for subsequent layers.
