My partner is a nurse and we get our other car from the NHS scheme and to be fair I've lost my fair share of cash on cars over the years. I have zero issues with leasing as everything is covered - even wear items tyres etc and we get a new car every two to three years. Wasted cash I know but no...
Thanks guys for the sound advice as usual!
To be perfectly honest I really want a new van and a warranty but not sure if my credit would allow it!
Transit van it is I reckon.
Two years buddy on my own. Plastering about 14.
I think we may have mutual friends etc as someone I work with knows of you...I need a hand on lots of jobs mate as I work for another builder who is a greedy s**t!!
so I'm looking at a new van around the 5k mark
Currently have a Citroen Berlingo which has been awesome - never missed a beat
Want something that's going to fit 8x4 sheets of board in etc but not a huge van either.
Talking to a Mate at the wknd who has a large company says steer away from...
getting really busy with various projects and quotes for friends and repeat customers so looking at passing work onto a confident and reliable individual who's maybe not as busy and will appreciate the work.
I started by religiously looking on the plasterers forum and getting advice from...
Hi all
Working on a large conversion into flats using soundboard mostly. I'm looking for one or two reliable and solid plasterers for work on and off till xmas. Improves welcome as long as you drive and have own tools.
Centre of Halesowen and free parking onsite
Day rate and paid every...
Might be a few days or two weeks but looking for someone who is interested in learning and making a few quid....pm me if interested...job starts tmrw but can be flexible with a start date..

simon
I'd say he doesn't pay the going rate no,but for me its a case of being busy as I seem to get calls for my private work and from other builders I've worked for. My business is in the early days yes so I'm happy to take home the cash and improve my skimming and knowledge of being on site....it...
I'll be honest guys the money ain't great....but I've got a lot from this forum in a short space of time so I thought if I could help someone like myself who is starting out within plastering then it would be a bonus....
I work when I've haven't got my private work to go at....he is fine with that...just needs reliable people really....I like my cups of coffee too much :RpS_thumbsup:
So I'm working for a guy a few days a week, he has taken on more work, it's all site work and mostly skimming fresh board.
He is looking for a couple of extra guys and I suggested that I put an ad on here as its been a great source of finding extra work and advice for me!
The work is paid on...
I know you're right plasterman, my business is starting to take off and I just want someone to take that side of things away, eg cleaning, mixing... But in all honesty would I be able to stay away knowing how important it is for clean mixing buckets and a loose second coat.... I may as well...
I was asked for mine within half a day on site last week, within my induction...to be fair that's why I took it....I'm fooked if I want to do that everyday though....like my private jobs and cups of coffee way to much!
Mind due I was working on site with a load of speads in Chesterfield last week....and to be fair they were all in there early twenties and they worked there socks off! They were like machines.....total respect to them....I kept up with them, but only just!! And if you remembet the post about the...
The lad who was told to remove his hoodie basically had a string vest type thing on underneath and clearly didn't think he'd be sitting in the CSCS testing area with just that on! His face was total shock and horror sitting there with his anaemic body on show...
So I'm thinking of using a labourer when I'm working on my plastering jobs, just mixing and cleaning really....must have their own transport and most importantly be hard working and reliable
Please send me your mobile or email me and and I'll call you back.
cheers
simon
So I updated my CSCS exam yesterday - talk about strict, thought I was being interviewed by the secret service!!
Hoodies off, watch off, everything out your pockets, I was down to my undercrackers by the time I sat the test....anyone else found the same?
Hi All!
So before xmas I lost my shitty job, and its given me the push I needed to go into plastering full time, something I've been doing since I was 25 after the army till now, 43.
As you all know you can spend stupid amounts on advertising but which ways are the most effective for all you...
Blimey , I wished that was the worst I'd had in the army...your not even called by your first name for how many months....it's called character building....your son probably just needs to learn to give it back, a lot of people are very good at giving it but then not so good at taking it.....I do...
I agree gps, what a stupid thing to put....:RpS_confused:....not sure what I was trying to say here other than Looking for a bit of work.....happy new year all!!
I think if you aimed it at the right people and took a sample with you, then I reckon it would go well...I know if at least 1 top end kitchen designer in notts that is quoting this on every new install as an interactive wall in the kitchen area....doing well without too....
Like everyone else at first glance i thought it looked ridiculously overpriced. But when you've used it in the right situation and for the right job, the customers are delighted with it - they think it's magic :RpS_thumbup:
The other thing is when you compare it the other options on the market...
Cancelled job, it doesn't owe me that much so I'd rather let someone in here have it cheap!
Least I can do after all the info I've gained from this site....
Hi all hope a good xmas was had by everyone....I've a couple of bags of thistle magnectic plaster for sale, much rather someone on the forum use it....open to sensible offers and I'm based in nottingham so ideally it needs to be picked up....
cheers!!
Sorry to jump on this thread but I've got two bags of magnectic for sale, canceled job and I'd much rather someone else benefit from it... open to sensible offers?
cheers..
I'm a derby boy so there's really only one team for me, you Rams....I've been plastering for 15 years now, after I left the army I did a few courses based on plastering, tiling etc...it was always the plastering I enjoyed and seemed to have a knack for getting it on the wall....over the years...
