patched a wall approx 1metre with hydraulic lime/washed sand in october 2022, the top coat is bagged lime superfine from Ty Mawr, couldn't put the top coat on until now, will the bag be ok? wet wall?. advice please guys.

2 coat k a slurry then sbr coat with scratch coat,then topcoat render.

cos we are knocking all the dash off, thinking of ewi,solid brick walls, will inject metre high dpc inside,possibly knock all internal plaster off if needed. Any ideas, (the sprouts idea , very expensive lol)

been to see a detached brick built house 1920s,all the inside paper peeling and black everywhere on all levels, the outside is pebbledashed with cracks , needs knocking off, a dpc course ? and pebbledash again ?. the walls are solid, what do you guys think? ewi? hydraulic lime plaster? or...

depends on the job, if i'm pebbledashing no lime in the scratch coat only the top coat, waterproofer kills the suction and lime creates it, if i'm rubbing up render, float or sponge finish i use lime in both coats, different plasterers different opinions.

also febond blue grit £33.75 delivered on ebay,i haven't tried blue grit yet, but febond is a good name in the industry.

client want's to skim over old plastered wall,was going to pva and skim over,but thinking of sbr slurry then pva and skim,the skirting is on the wall so it's to tight to sbr and render cement/skim, anybody done sbr slurry then pva skim?

putting a couple of coats of sbr slurry on to cellar brickwork,but the customer dosen't want the walls plastering,is it ok to paint over the sbr with masonry paint?

i did a post on this november 27 with pics,nightmare stuff,used it a couple of times now and hopefully never again.

discussing sbr with another plasterer, he puts sbr in scratch coat mix as well as waterproofer,said he has had some problems with waterproofer not holding back enough and with sbr better all round, i emailed technical dept at cementone, and the reply was( waterproofer and sbr will entrain too...

it acts as a waterproofer,better adhesion,less chance of cracks all in all supposed to be the dogs wotsits.

mixing sbr tomorrow as a slurry,when rendering on a 10 sand 2 cement mix,using sbr in the mix, how much should i put in, 1 pint? thanks lads.

if you are working to door frames,you might not be able to dot and dab,i would dot and dab but if not possible sand/cement with or without lime depending on preference.my mix would be 6:1:1 and then multi-finish.

did a few of these about 3years ago,outer brick skin and dot and dab internal,just as aj said had to be done this way for mortgage and local council spec.

went to lidl today tony m is right,spot on, good quality £9.99 each.

never bothered checking the mpg,just fill the tank £25 and that's it.

i've got a tranny lpg,had it year's brilliant.

plastered the breasting on thursday,still wet patches 4-30pm,back this morning trying to pull it together,this plaster is a nightmare.

on sitework some years ago,we had the same problem,after a lot of head scratching i had a look in one of the water butts and on the surface there was a film of oil/diesel,laying on and trowelling up was no different so we wouldn't have noticed,the water butts were the only thing we could point...

thanks for the input,i'll mix some washed sand/cement a little waterproofer,mix into a grout instead.

go on to british gypsum website,plasterboards and gyproc thermal performance boards,it's all there,i use a lot of the thermaline plus,around £20 per sheet,depending on type.

put in google search engine, www.ctcream.co.uk look at some of the statements about it.I was going to give it a go but got better so i didn't bother,best of luck.

plastering a block built shed,rather than use sbr,i was thinkink of using a good waterproofer in both coats external render,travis perkins brand used in swimming pools or cementone,i usually use 250-300mm to a 8 sand 2cement scratch coat and 10 sand 2 cement final coat,any ideas guys?thanks

i plastered a four storey stairwell,and they wanted all the walls curved top to bottom,i fixed plasterboard to the corners onto battens and then bonding,you could fix ply and eml then bonding either way it's less dubbing out on the internal corner.
