    Float and set ceiling line.

Andy didn't say it was a bad outcome pal. All flat and plumb when edge is held to wall. Talking about slight deviations on longer runs when looking directly down line. No other site spreads I've seen mess about with box screed or creating bands tbh.
  10. S

    Float and set ceiling line.

Plasterers use spirit levels and straight edges. What else would you suggest
  11. S

    Float and set ceiling line.

I like em mate. Just wondered if im missing a trick with feather edges
  12. S

    Float and set ceiling line.

Nah mate all price work. We just keep chucking full walls on n rulling off till about 11 skim same day. Never really done it with creating bands or any other plumbing method. Heard of people sticking beads on or dotting strips plumb n filling n rulling inbetween to get walls bang on. But not...

    Float and set ceiling line.

Cheers for replys. Seems theres no tricks then. Just winds me up to look down line n i can see its not bang straight when I know it would be if walls were dotted

    Playing with these today

They look ridiculous! Haha. Definitely sooner kick a crate round at that height

    Float and set ceiling line.

Anybody got any good tips on getting a bang straight ceiling line please. Done loads of rough and skim on comercial sites mostly where grid is being fitted so easy to get straight and flat as nothing in your way.. always notice the odd deviation when roughing to a ceiling looking down the line...

    s**t gear again

I know pal it's embarrassing. You can't really say to gaffers it looks shite cause bags are bad you'd just sound like a bell end. Got a good finish anyway it just makes it hard work
  21. S

    s**t gear again

I've never had an issue before. Had a new delivery of multi on job today n worst I've ever used. Just like pictures lurpak put up. Was like trowling up sand! Set rapid. Tearing like f**k. Even twitching angles was ripping gear. Awful stuff. Wonder if it's cause bags been stored in freezing cold...

    What am I worth

A monkey can flatten a wall and polish it to death pal. It's angles and detail work that make ya a plasterer. And really doubt you can float and set a room properly on your own after a year. How old are you ?
  24. S

    What am I worth

It's alright saying you can do this and that. Depends how well. And I doubt very well if it's your first year.. nowt wrong with 40 quid especially if you're a young un. He's learning you a trade at end of day he's entitled to make money off you, it's not a charity

    Large order delivery

Ya first coat fills them out. Go over loads on site, just skim them as normal

    Large order delivery

What's the extra work? Doesn't make a blind bit of difference pal

    Float and set m2 cost

I don't pay for mats on site mate. I've sorted it now I think. Cheers
  28. S

    Float and set m2 cost

Never priced a decent sized job rough n skim suply before. Done plenty on site where there's pallets of hardwall waiting for you, but haven't a clue when pricing roughing yourself for builders ect. Anyone have any guidelines per meter cost they follow for suply please? Hardwall that is. Thanks

    How many bags on site

    Why? Not at 2.50 though.
  30. S

    How many bags on site

Depends on areas. On price work 2-3 bags a gauge on more niby areas or lots of angles. Up to 5 bag gauge big free areas. 2 gauges a day
  31. S

3 Guages Or 2 Big 2 mix Guages?

Do both see what works out best. How many bags you knock up when laying in with same gear?

    Spats. Speed skim issues

I know mate used spats years, i get the timings. I meant more I find the speedkim if not spotless can leave small fine lines through your work probably through tiny bits of fat that can collect in those ridges on front. Find it really annoying.
  33. S

    Spats. Speed skim issues

Oh I see that's the idea then. Not sure I agree with their theory tho, Sure they'd be better without them. a trowel flattens walls fine without silly ridges in
  34. S

    Spats. Speed skim issues

Like the standard Speed skim prefer them to the metal bladed spats eze refina ect. I think they leave a nicer finish after troweling up, don't like how other spats fetch up water in skim. But does anyone else find speedskims drag like f**k if they're not kept not absolutely spotless? I'm...

    3-4 bag buckets

100 litre ? Is that the 4 bagger mate looks small
  36. S

    3-4 bag buckets

Its for me and a lad. Sounds a lot but not between 2 of you and on bigger sites with big areas 1-2 bag mixes don't go far mate
  37. S

    3-4 bag buckets

    go back to bed pal
  38. S

    3-4 bag buckets

Looks bang on that mate. What they like for scraping last bits of skim out and cleaning ? Cause thought they had bumps at bottom not flat? Cheers
  39. S

    3-4 bag buckets

What litre is that un pal?
  40. S

    3-4 bag buckets

Can anyone recommend some good buckets for 3 n half to 4 bag mixes for skim? Looking for something not too oversized just to take 3 n half, 4 bags nicely and be reasonably hardwearing, any ideas? Cheers

TO SPONGE OR NOT TO SPONGE

Tidy. Exactly mate. What's a sponge for when you can turn out work like that with a couple of passes? But each to their own
  42. S

TO SPONGE OR NOT TO SPONGE

Dont see the need personaly if you 2 coat. Lay in, 3 trowels, Set done.. Isn't sponge just adding an extra trowel? Maybe I'm missing something.
  43. S

    Spot board

Hah fair point. Didn't think it would be that bad between 2 of ya.
  44. S

    Spot board

    Sorry talking skim
  45. S

    Spot board

Hello! Who prefers spot and stand, n who prefers to work from bucket? Coming round to spot board more recently gear seems to stay fresh longer. Always worked from bucket previously Does anyone know what size board I would need to take 3 bag mixes? cheers

Fatarm do ya mean micro gobetis pal? Do you water it down. Cheers
  48. S

    Crap pva

Always believed grit solutions were mainly for a key not for suction control.
  49. S

    Crap pva

Hello! On really high suction backgrounds pva is not cutting it for me on bigger sets . Does anybody use anything else to control suction better. Sure I read about sbr being used before? If so what ratios please. Advice appreciated. Cheers
