    Electric shock ⚡️ ⚡️ ⚡️

I have about 10 times, lighting, mains powered thermostat etc/ also had a whole wall go live before as electrician hadn't covered cables properly (I plastered them in). It's always been a big thump for me, definitely gets the heart rate up but quite funny afterwards!

    Site wage cuts.

The same ones that complain the moneys s**t in plastering and their joints are f**k*d. Do as little as possible for as much money as possible, quite simple.
  3. McBentLegs

What's your go-to music for plastering?

My raving days are long gone but used to love John Askew, Simon Patterson etc/

    Krend Poor Coat And Gouges

Who says it's a weeks worth of work out of interest? Just because it took them a week to ruin your house doesn't mean it's a weeks worth of work. Look, you paid cheap and hopefully you'll learn from it, £100+ a metre is standard, stop worrying about how much other people earn.. either you can...

    Krend Poor Coat And Gouges

You can't complain about having a s**t job done whilst also openly admitting you refuse to pay the 'going rate' of a top quality job.

    First attempt at Mono

Thanks guys, definitely a bit of a knack to it, nearly lost the first panel I did spatting it too late! Much more enjoyable to do than traditional render though, more satisfying anyway! Now the question is whether I get a machine or not..

    First attempt at Mono

Just finished my first ever attempt at any Mono, a few bits I wasn't happy with but I can pick fault in pretty much everything I do, few awqward bits (aluminium windows fitted with tiny margins so had to run stops instead of angle beads etc/) Also had to whack an extra expansion joint in to...

Youll enjoy this one guys.. pics included

I'm just going to ignore it, I did type a few nasty replies out but thought better of it, he'll only wind me up more every time he responds.

No, its not just you mate, like bananas.

He said he would bead it.. dunno how, the board isn't the same depth either end and looks like it was cut with a pad saw.

Update - the weirdo messaged me out of no where today saying it's all done and took 5 hours.. I mean none of the angles are straight and he's buried what were once sockets but I'm pleased for him. I thought it best to just ignore him, I'm sure he'll give me and update again in a few months anyway.

Tell me about it, right at the beginning he just told me he'll get someone else to do it.. so I said 'I think that's best'.. I thought that'd be the end of the conversation! Lol

I know mate, I couldn't bring myself to read his messages.. would wind me up too much l, don't want to be drawn into a slagging match, I don't go to work for a scrap, don't have any time for people like that. Although I have been thinking up something to respond with to press his buttons one...

He's now messaged me again.. couldn't be arsed to read them but something about someone doing it for £160 less that I was.. and he's seen all the pictures.. lol.. he's relentless.

Just what I was going to say mate.. he thinks there's nothing wrong with it. He didn't even ask if I could sort it, no apology and 'sorry mate, I've not done any boarding before.. can you sort it, I'll pay the extra'.. He just starts insulting me, funny thing is, it was only last night he was...

I was tempted to leave his number up on the pictures but thought better of it, such an attitude though.. maturity of a teenager the gobby c**t. I've straightened out some chappy boarding before but this was by far the worst.. pictures never do it justice.

Blocked him as he wouldn't let the conversation end, so he then starts texting me calling me a wimp and if the jobs out of my league then that's not his problem! Got to laugh really.. was fuming this morning.

Turned up to skim a garage that customer had boarded themselves.. this is the son in law of someone I've plastered the whole house of.. with no issues, lovely customers. After seeing the mess he left I decided to tell them politely it wasn't good enough and I won't be plastering it..

You don't need an email from them, I didn't get one, just signed in to HMRC and applied.

    Multifinish & BG!!!!

Wickes near me had 9 pallets stacked up and no one buying, no queues etc/ I didn't need any as got 40 bags in my unit. Selco also is fairly stocked, getting weekly deliveries, I got 20 bags from them two weeks ago and was told the last two pallets had been sat there for a week.. so no issues...

    Are we to expensive?

To some people you charging £450 is extortionate though mate.. but from your perspective it's not.. what makes you right and the guys charging £200 or £600 not.

    Anybody used this Carlite finish?

I've been using the standard red bagged Carlite the last couple days, finding it tearing and dragging a lot, needing a lot more water than multi, glad I've got the mediflex! Timings are definitely different, I don't think it's better than multi yet and that's saying something! Doing my kitchen...

    Quads

There's definitely something cool about them! I had a 520exc on the road in supermoto trim years back, wheely monster, went through the whole road bike phase (600rr, gsxr600 etc/) and haven't been back on the road since about 2012.. I think if I do get another it'll be a custom Harley tbf, keep...

    Motorcross

Oh mate if we are talking super Evo, mid 90s.. love that s**t, I'd love a 95/96 cr125, they are becoming surprisingly popular now the retro bikes, regularly see a guy when I'm out riding on one and he has all the retro kit and helmet too (pinks/purples).. looks sick, and he's quick too which is...

    Quads

Nothing wrong with quads off-road but on the road are silly.. such high center of gravity, you'd be on two wheels around all the corners because you'd struggle to get it to slide on the tarmac, accident waiting to happen for sure! Get a 450/520 or similar supermoto, although don't expect to...

    Motorcross

I've had two RM125s, an 01 and an 02.. great bikes especially at cornering! Would have another if they started making them again but they stopped around 07/08, hard to come by a decent one and do look a little dated now! Although I prefer two strokes I've found myself looking at the 2020...

    Rendering base of fountain

Not the stone work no, at first I thought he meant the internals (base and sides) but he's asked for just the base.. I'm only going by what the other plasterer has told him he was going to do, I've not been over to speak to him directly yet.

    Rendering base of fountain

I've just been looking back through posts regarding swimming pools and it seems an SBR slurry followed by scratch and top coat with added SBR is more than sufficient.. That was my original thought but wasn't sure if it was correct. I agree on the method of self leveling it some how, that would...

    Rendering base of fountain

I don't see why they want it meshed myself, seems pointless over a solid concrete base. Should have troweled the concrete smooth and just painted it! Just top up the water every now n then and jobs a goodun :descansando:
  31. McBentLegs

    Rendering base of fountain

No offense taken mate no worries, I agree to an extent but we all come across things we haven't done before, it'd be completely different if I couldn't render of course.
  32. McBentLegs

    Rendering base of fountain

That's all I've been told yes
  33. McBentLegs

    Rendering base of fountain

Haha yeh could be the case! I'm happy to walk away if it's too much hassle but thought I'd put it passed the experts on here first!
  34. McBentLegs

    Rendering base of fountain

I've been asked by a mate of mine if I fancy rendering the base of this fountain.. it's for his Dad and the guy he normally uses isn't available so mates come to me. I can render, do the occasional small job but leave it at that normally as work alone (by no means a rendering expert). I've...

I do agree with that, 450 can go for hours without a rebuild. You use it for Moto or enduro etc/?

    Motorcross

You can say that again lol costs me £220 a month to store the thing securely.. obviously I keep tools here too but it's predominantly for the bike. It's partly why I chose not to have kids tbf, no chance I could afford to have both, may regret it when I'm older but I'd also regret not doing the...

Totally agree, the problem is the most dangerous stuff is always the most fun lol That's what insurance is for though, I've mentioned before on here I've had my fair share of injuries, currently have 14inch titanium rod in my left femur from a big off 3 years ago, was off work for 7 months.. I...

    Motorcross

Four strokes are superior in the sense they are a lot easier to ride, more stable with more gyroscopic affect, less gear changing, more torque at lower revs, much more traction in the wet, way more engine braking.. Much smoother less aggressive ride, way more expensive if stuff goes wrong...
  43. McBentLegs

    Motorcross

No one needs a 450 in my opinion, 250fs occasionally lap quicker than them in the nationals.. for your average rider a 450 allows them to stick it in 3rd gear for the entire lap and hit 100ft+ jumps they don't have the ability to jump/shouldn't even be attempting.. stick the same rider on a 125...

    Is this a bad job?

Someone reskimmed the whole lot in a day?? It did look s**t but as has been said shining a light down anyone's plastering will make it look awful, I try to not do it any more unless I'm trying to wind myself up. £300 is dirt cheap too, £500+ all day long.
  45. McBentLegs

    Motorcross

Yeh I can imagine you won't be walking after first ride back lol, good you got mates to get out with though, nothing worse than going on your own! Where do you live? I'm Crawley but quite regularly up at Mildenhall or Chippenham (Suffolk way) if that ain't to far from you, plenty of places...

I ride Lurpy, prefere smokers myself, out once or twice a week if I can, gagging to ride at the minute but obviously all tracks are shut.. dismantled my bike a few times to do maintenance it didn't need.. run out of things to do, may take the tyres off and refit them lol Nice tidy bike that...

how much to pva and skim average room ceiling 4 walls

Bit rich coming from the guy who also claims he makes £250+ a day every single day of the working year (230 days?) and is in the top tax bracket.
