Shocked at you. Shocked. Bad enough my 100e trowel is ducked without copping abuse lol
  4. Simon85

    Forcing patina

    Forcing patina

Trowel cancer. It must have been a faulty Trowel I don't know less than two days the underside is all dented and hollowed. 50/50 with coke and vinegar ‍♂️ I've got into them, never know might send me another one.....

    Forcing patina

It was in two days, half vinegar half cola and it etched the Trowell somehow. F-ing things f**k*d don't know how it done that
  7. Simon85

    Forcing patina

    What about coke zero?
  8. Simon85

    Forcing patina

Know this has been covered before but searched couple threads earlier. Have had it soaking for over a day in the coke/vinegar mix. Took it out earlier dried it off, took most the patina off. What's the process when take it out. Do I let it dry itself so the patina stays on it, or dab it and risk...

Self employment, is it really worth it?

What I'd do if I could be bothered the hassle of getting a squad together. Sub work long as the firm isn't taking the piss with their rates. Turn up, do the work get paid. No fanning about sheeting up etc

    Left handed trowels

I've been struggling with them right handed trowels for years. Takes ages to get em right

    Render strength

Seems to cause eggshelling when the scratch is too strong
  12. Simon85

    Render strength

Bag to 16 shovels scratch Bag to 20 shovels rubbing coat
  13. Simon85

Help - is my rendering that bad - (Johnstone's Silicone)?

Do you think it's a bad job? Who's told you it's not good. Have you looked at it and realised its not great or are you happy enough but someone's pointed it out. For the record. It's not a good job at all. 2 thin scraped back to the first coat by looks it.
  14. Simon85

Which plastering job is better and why?

Did wolverine from the x-men sneak in on your tea and claw all Over that back wall and the slopey ceiling bit?
  15. Simon85

Looking to have your home rendered

Also on the point of til his thread, by the time said customers see this, it will probably be too late for most tend to come on after it been ballsed up
  16. Simon85

Looking to have your home rendered

Nah you don't need a machine to render. And proper rubbed up house or dashed with window bands, projective base and corner bands looks nicer to me than that thin coat stuff in my opinion.

    Remind Me Who's in Ireland

    Carlite ultra finish

Irish gypsum mines/factories instead of the British gypsum ones?
  19. Simon85

Any advice on how to fix this?

I'd be surprised if they go back.
  20. Simon85

Any advice on how to fix this?

Redo it. Or put up with it.

    Government grants

Can you claim it if you're still working? They not look at it like you're doing the double and end up hunting you for it?
  22. Simon85

    Government grants

Might be harder for us to get this one I'd say this could be for more hairdressers etc that's been told.To stay at home still. Weve been told to go back so we mightnt qualify? Or at least as easily
  23. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finis

Grand on Anybackground. Goes a bit quicker. This heat it will go rightly but generally its about 2 hours it takes to set right. Just keep an eye on it long as you're not slow as a wet week coating, get. It on and flattened and you're grand.

    Carlite ultra finish

I think it's 6months or so normally. I think it's better than multi. Bg maybe s**t themselves they think gyproc over there lol
  28. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

I hope all our gears not gettin shipped over there and we'll end up short here lol
  29. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

In my opinion it's nicer to use
  30. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Yeah. Mostly on sale down south, up with us it's mostly the Carlite and ultra. That stuff arite too like.
  31. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Does all backgrounds. Board, mortar, bonding, hard coat, reskim
  32. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

    Yes mate.
  33. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Carlite doesn't have the black grit in it. The red backs do seem to have Cork seeds in it, must be to give it body, but it. Trowels up fine just sometimes can see it. The pink stuff here didn't have the grit through it. Was pretty similar just different colour.
  34. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Just to do with the gypsum mines I think mate. Used to get some it was pink but it's all been grey now as long time.
  35. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Aye that's out versión of hardwall I take it. I'd rather use mortar than that stuff tbh. Handy if it's for patching a wall so can skim over it same day but doin larger areas, new builds mortars better.
  36. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Normal Carlite finish (red bags) don't go off as quick. The ultra is the faster setting one, but red bags are 2.5-3 hours normally. Both hang more in winter obviously with the damper cooler air etc
  37. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Told you it's better than multi. We use it all time here.
  38. Simon85

    Thoughts on this?

Nah that stuffs grand. We use it quite a bit. Timings are different to multi so keep an eye on it. Tends to dry in 2-2.5 hours.
  39. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

And yes mix it like Mr whippy ice cream
  40. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Work with labourer, just mix one bag at a time, but you could get away with a bag an a half or 2 bags at a time like
  41. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

Comes up grey/white when it's dry.
  42. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

If its just u using it wouldn't mix a big 3 bag batch of it at once, til u get used to the timings of it case it tightens too much in the bucket.
  43. Simon85

    Carlite ultra finish

It's supposed to set in 2 hours but it's normally 2.5 tbf. Nice to use than multi imo. Though first time using it, was also first time skimming mortar over high suction thermolite blocks. That was fun. Caught me off guard lol 1sr hit was set for 10 o clock though

Seen that, they asking new buyers for unrealistic deposits etc it'll be the banks cause this one again, ironically operating differently than the last one they caused..... By being too conservative, whereas last one they were too lax and threw money at ppl. No happy medium lol
