Have to say, the aftersales service from John @PFTscotland is amazing! I phoned him on a Sunday from an unknown number as I had no signal and he answered and fixed me straightaway.
Man's deadly as is Elaine .
Maybe a wee while in this cooler damp weather, it's pretty forgiving stuff, I try and get an elevation on and then jump back and hit, stupid statement but watch your eyes, it's nasty and very abrasive on skin and seems to travel much further than s&c wet dash.
It's lovely stuff, far better than s&c, a lot messier though. Once dash receiver is on I just mix two bags at a time with a whisk in a large tub then split into 2 gorillas and fire it on and repeat till elevation is done.
Cheers, I love sand and cement but unfortunately the stuff up here at builders merchants is wank and the local quarry sand is to inconsistent, ok for building though.
Sorry for bringing this back @essexandy I probably missed it but why did u not use the machine ?
Are u just happy with the traditional way?
Sorry for being a nosey c**t lol.
Day went great in the end had a blockage, purely because I didnt 100% listen to guy who taught us and tried to do something from youtube. I'm a fanny..
Anyway, job done, got to top coat it and the guy wants it done to look rustic so gonna hand apply top coat cos awkward and machine to fast lol...
No, last time I did that was a secondary school in southfields, london about 2002. It's usually cavity closers so insulation can get right up to reveal.
Mostly timber frame up here though and windows etc sit flush with outside of cavity surrounded by a fire stop. Usually a 150mm minimum...
The way you guys do it. Goodfcknnight. I know theres a cover trim on there which makes reveal smaller but hopefully the gist is gotten. Away to lie doon..
Basically what I was asking is was why do you set your window/door frames only about 20mm from face of render/brickwork? Whereas up here in scotland the outside of window/doorframe is flush with outside of cavity.
Right, I'll start again. Let's think timber frame.
Timber frame , 50mm cavity, block/brickwork.
100mm reveal. Lots of render pics I see on here there is only a 20mm or thereabouts reveal. Why is that? Why are the door/ window frames out so far?
Why, in most pictures from you guys down south are your reveals only 20mm wide ? Up here we build houses with cavities cavitys (not sure correct spelling). Anyway we place the frame flush with outside of cavity giving us at least 100mm of a reveal. Wtf? Am I missing something??
Today I was working with the dude that laboured to u at the stag, tarbert and Dunoon etc. Said your the tidiest, most particular, cleanest guy he has met..
Skegness. F*****g luv the place. UK speed weekend. Stock cars thursday night, saturday and Sunday. In between mixing with all the other ( holidaymakers) lol and pretending your not scottish when you see all the abominations wearing cellic and the rangers manky tops... love the beaches and met a...
Brilliant machine, first thing I made my apprentice(son) purchase. Blows the makita out the water for sound. No more listening to pishy radio either. Spotify all day long.
Where I stay, its getting busier as everyone who has adhered to the rules are saying fuckit ( with very good reason) Balfour Beatty are doing a pylon upgrade and these c**ts are driving about everywhere sharing Van's, in and out of local petrol stations and shops. They have been going home at...
Cheers tom, unfortunately I'm in the stix so sometimes water pressure is an issue and a few builders I do work for dont have power on till near end of build, but thankfully a few I do work for get it on at start.
Just want to be sorted for all situations.
Hopefully getting her out next week...
Just about to sort a genny tom, is there anything else I need? What I mean is how would you power the machine and water pump?
Do you get a 32 to 16 amp reducer plug to power machine and use the 16 amp outlet for water pump.
Or can you just use one outlet and split it between machine and pump...
Good to go. Just need wee Nicola to give me the green light and we'll maybe get a wee shot of it.
Just need a genny. Any recommendations appreciated?. Found a couple, one 8kva and one 9.5 but not sure if they are suitable. Will try and post links up and hopefully someone with a bit more savvy...
Was a few years back. I never owned it though and it was bought more for floor screeds than render however, was great learning curve for applying renders and did a lot of houses with it.
Now though this is for me and my son and the time is right.
John could have sold me the slimline but I'm...
Picked up our new baby courtesy of @PFTscotland yesterday, brilliant days training from John and canny wait to get going.
She's staying in the spare room till her first job..
Has anyone got one fitted?, just ordered one. Self contained, just remembered the cold condensation issue over the winter yesterday when I jumped in van.
