Wouldn’t bother trying to strip paper from plaster board as will take chunks out of it. Might be bonded well now, how a survey can say how well bonded is silly especially over paper which diceintergrates with time and also when gets wet. next layer of skim at least another 25kg of weight! I...
Daz washing powder!!!
Honestly works amazingly!!! Trowels are brand new afterwards even removes dab to a mush. Soak over night in warm water with daz next day the skim on the trowel is like a mush which wipes off or with a light scrap comes off.
Piss weak pva to start with to absorb into wall. Then second stronger coat once piss weak has gone tacky and been absorbed by wall!
Then skim away. If still goes too fast keep a sponge handy just in case.
Done one recently was an absolute pig!
Chippies asked me what’s best under the stairs I said ply and then eml on top.
Was then bonded out and then skimmed.
The curve and angle was sooo tight and in multiple directions was a real pain. Luckily I had my trusty Nela plasiflex! Wouldn’t fancy doing...
Got myself one of these mixing paddles after being recommended one by another plaster.
These paddles do mix the plaster quicker but I think also gives multi finish a creamer consistency (probably in my head but still)
These paddles are easy to clean mixed up to bags of multi easily but also...
Leave them to soak in DAZ washing powder over night! Next morning all stuck on plaster and fat becomes soft can can be scraped off easily then washed in warm clean water!!! Works wonders
@Danny
Tried the old heavy duty tarp today. Works well, sweep up, roll up, and plaster splats will dry and fall off when you shake it out.
Only problem I see with tarps is if they get wet become slippery! I guess keep water to a minimum when troweling up or put a stair runner around the...
Hi guys
Boring thread I know. Will have some smart arse comments about being a messy spread too!
I am feed up with crappy cotton plastic back dust sheet as quality of them are poor.
What do you guys use?
I'm looking for something that can roll up, is light weight.
Corex great for jobs when...
The cementone one is made by bostik, think what @Vincey was saying was they supply other suppliers but then they water them down and own ingredients and what ever else they do etc etc (this is only speculation of course lol)
Being bostiks own product it's how it's suppose to be straight off...
Yes I would say so! Give it a chance and once you get use to it it will speed up scriming time and save jumping up and down hope ups.
My mistake when first got it was not putting enough pressure on roller when first rolling scrim on and was pulling it off. Combined this with the orange scrim...
I don't really do much rendering at all but have heard about serrated straight edges being the bees knees and showing up low spots.
Do you guys lay on, use normal straight edge fill hollows then use serrated edge, float it or just lay on, use serrated and fill hollows float it?
Might sound...
Try it. Mixed at same ratio as other brands it will out perform, defo holds suction back better and is more consistent. It's not piss thin.
I got converted to this stuff about 6 months ago!!
Cementone pva from b and q or wickes.
Think it's around £15 I used to use unibond super pva but this stuff holds back the suction better is cheaper and smells nice in my opinion!(not a glue sniffer!)
Tape gun!! Worth every penny. Not trying to find end each time. Keeps rolls clean and at hand and can't loose the roll of skim as it's on a gun.
Gives nice corners too with the flip down roller corner function thingy!
No real need for a knife either pull trigger and scrim is cut!
Also I'm...
What in your opionion sets plaster faster?
Central heating or a cold draftt i.e. Window/door open/ no doors lol ?
Was skimming today in a pretty warm house, opened the door and window about 30 mins before skimming to cool the room down. Despite turning thermostat and radiators down house was...
Think I may have to order one. I'm only 5.11 but using a mega mixer and hunching long term can't be good. Lol generally plastering full stop can't be good on the body!
What do you guys think of these threaded extensions for your mixer so don't have to hunch over so much when mixing?
Do they put extra strain on the mixers? Burn out brushes?
Thanks in advance for any info!
Matt
I've have noticed multi changes often and is not very consistent at all. Can be grainy one day and the next greasey!
Never came across this with plasterboards.
Hi guys
Been doing some boarding today and noticed some of the plasterboards I got are light pink in colour in side.
They are horrid to cut and every cut needs a wrasp down even with my new gadget plasterboard cutter!
Has anyone else heard or had this?
Heard of rumours that BG are recycling...
Yup could have indeed!
Probably only two boards but paint looked and felt sound. Think the problem was a mist coat wasn't used previously.
Was easily fixed and thankful it wasn't a large ceiling.
Yup
Was pretty annoying as when scrap the paint and crap off it it felt sound. Add moisture and weight I guess it just help peeled the old paint from plaster.
Hi
Just wondering if any of you guys have experienced this.
Nice silky smooth ceiling in bathroom. Decided to use wba instead of bluegrit.
Gave it a scrap before putting grit on. Left for about 5 hours, nice a dry!
Whilst troweling up second coat a big patch started to bubble! Oh cr*p.
Cut...
Hi all
Just a quick question about these canned plasterboard adhesives.
Do they meet building regs? (I'm guessing they must otherwise wouldn't be made)
I can see benefit on perfectly flat walls (how often does that happen) for cleanliness/ease and speed but surely it can not bond as well as a...
Hello all
I'm thinking of getting a power float for rubbing up sand and cement.
Fair enough I don't do much rendering or put much on but I am a tool tart and anything that makes life a bit easier and puts less strain on the body I am a fan of.
Was thinking of getting black plastic float and...
Got mine in Margate branch . Can't find it on their website but Homebase do exact same one.
