The problem we ve got is we hav to use the BG stuff even if its utter crap at the mo cause the other makers cant produce decent skim themselves and until they do we re screwed
Had
the same problem with board finish before xmas. The gear was supplied by SIG for a site for 1 of the big boy builders. The finish was that bad the directors of the firm( 1 of the 1s that make 100s of mil profit) have got involved and called BG in about the quality of the stuff they re...
I know site prices are still s**t but you ve got to have a little pride in ur work all the same. Never mind the labourer rubbing it down perhaps they should have had him do the work in the 1st place lmao
I think we all go through the same thoughts s doing this job sometimes but you d only end up doing the same sh*t for someone alse on the books anyway. But ur right about a labourer...cant find decents 1s and when y do they want a trademans wage
Got a travis half mile from my house but wont use them cause their prices are double of any other merchant. Also got a big huws gray yard just down the road but never get decent trade prices. Dont these big firms want us to use them?
Prefer a spot board. Saves time when laying on even got a few different sizes in the van depending on the size of the areas in workin in. Will take it straight from the bucket on smaller jobs but only if there s no room for a small spot and stand
Got to be planet rock for me. Classic head banging all day long in work nothing better to keep you going when you look at pink walls all day long! I know there s a few wimps out there in our trade who like smooth radio or god forbid radio 2 but please tell me most of us listen to proper music!!!;)
I just tell them to f**k off now when they ask for something to pull them out of the sh*t. Cant trust them and personal i dont even speak to 9 out of 10 of them. Cant remember the last job i was in when the agent was an ex tradesman and not some kiss arse labourer or student
The main problem with sig is that the like s of barrets and other big outfits hav got a deal with them so uv got to use them for ur gear which means they dont care about the tradesman using their stuff
Materials are supplied by main contrator on the job we had to use the gear on and they didnt care about the quality of the stuff we used just how the work looked after. As you can guess myself and the other lads on the site told them it was like polishing a turd...sh*t will still be sh*t
Had the pleasureof havin to use materials supplied by SIG from their liverpool and manchester branches. Boards dont cut at all and are bent coming off the pallet honestly believe they are seconds! And as for the board finish its complete and utter SH*T. You d get a better finish spreading mud...
Been doing alot of sub work lately on site s for some of the big outfits after a few years of doin work for smaller firms and cant get over how poor the site management has gone from agent up to senior managers. Honestly some of them have nt a clue if i was nt for the experienced labourers/fork...
Plenty of the stuff down under just got off the phone with the brother in law and they been using it in the perth are of oz for 4 month or so but it works out at around £13 a bag... and we re moaning about a few pence on a bag!!!!
Too right a day at home pricing is 10 times as hard as a day on site and thats just the getting away from the tea and biscuits in the kitchen never mind the paper work!!!!
Spread his name ova social media perhaps a few of his msgs as well that ll stop any work for the tosser sounds a rite cowboy and if ur feeling really pee d off with him take the msgs the coppers they love a nice easy case like that..saves them chasing druggies and peado s
Its hard to find lads to work with..they need the same work ethic and temperament. Iv give up trying and work on my own now...some how im earning more and alot happier just doesnt figure!!!
Fot myself 1 of them rolling tool chests different draws for different tools..abit anal i no but got sick of knockin my skimming gear around. Plus the wheels mean i can pull it and save my tired old muscles lmao
I always make sure there s goin to b tea and biccys on the job when i go look at it 1st..even let them no.its brown sauce on the bacon butties if they want the job doin they ve got to look after the lads doing it is what i say
Too right 2 whole weeks off for me!!!!! Used to only take a few days off years ago then realised ur no better thought of by who ever ur workin for at the time and no extra pay so after bustin me balls all year i think we all deserve puttin our feet up
Cant blame bg 2much they ve the market cornered and can name their price cause the other gear out there is utter s**t!!! The other manufacturers out there need to pull their finger out and start putting gear out that we can actually use to do a good job and then we ll see some competative prices...
Not the hands that get me this time of year. Its the cold gettin to my joints..my knees are creaking like an old rusty gate!! Try the natural hemp gel from the body shop..abit camp i no but the missus got me some a few years ago and no cracked hands since
Dont no whose worse..the woman still doin her makeup or the wagon drivers who forget there s black ice all ova the road! And they moan about us van drivers!!!!!!!!!!ggrrr
Tight spot! Get a list off her of what she wants them do a walk round point out what was her fault and what was urs..put it right then tell her to go f**k herself and never do work for them again.also.let anybody else who might work for her no how much trouble she is. End of the day u should hav...
Contact weber s technical department and they ll let u no what materials should hav been used on the block . It ll b worth finding out the details of the celcon blocks used on the house 1st but u ll get all.that off the manufacturer aswell. And bovis+nhbc will hav to give u all the information u...
Laid on too thin and should always base on celcon or similar block. Goes to prove what we all know.. big boy house builders are full of sh*t and have got the nhbc in their back pocket...f**kin jokers the lot of em
Im old enough to remember when all ceilings were artexed and iv seen both paper and fibre tape. Ceiling lines would be fibre tape and the board joints on the ceiling paper
Got family in the tradeover ur way and they ve said the same. Problem is ur goverment s no able to help out cause their bosses in the eu wont let them bugget any help for the industry incase it upsets the french and germans lol. So everybodies doin cash jobs and there s no tax money comin in so...
Its hard to put a figure on how much we can earn rates are different all round the country..day work or price work but the so called house building boom the goverment want isnt going to happen until the site rates go up so its worth takin on a young trainee! I work on my own at the mo its just...
Yeah abit on the strange side everything else is fine as far as i know PAYE and CIS all upto date but never waited this long for a bill off them. Perhaps the goverments got enough money and they dont need mine so i get to keep it all..lmao
Yeah checked all the on line stuff i know its all processed a few month ago but not been given a final amount and the account s got a rough figure for me and its abit too much to pay off in small amounts monthly
Not had my bill off the bast*ard yet usually had it mid sept and they ll hav the cheek to blame me if its a late payment!!!! Any other ladies and gents havin the same problem?
A simple re skim aslong as the original boards and artex are solid. I always like to fire in some fresh screws on the joints on a ceiling thats had that happen
