One thing I never seem to get wrong is the quantities of material I need for roughcast.
I’ve got a 145m2 job almost ready for dashing and I usually do a mix of 4:1 butter coat and 4:2:1:1 for the dash.
It’s been about a year since I rouchcasted last and had loads of gear left to take back
Is...
I’m looking for a plasterer to join me or an experienced labourer.
Llandysul, West Wales area.
If anyone on here in this sort of area let me know.
Mostly domestic refurb and renovation jobs and occasional new build and sitework.
I’ve got a wall to over plaster and make flat.
It’s currently sand and cement and all over the shop. It has some crazing but it is solid absolutely rock hard.
I’m thinking I might rendergrip it and pull it out plumb and flat with bonding with the mesh in it and then skim it to finish.
Anyone...
I have a couple of rooms on a new build I’m Plastering that have marmox board fixed in the bathroom and an ensuite.
The client wants them skimmed and a couple of feature walls in either Venetian or micro-cement.
I’ve never gone over marmox before personally so do you have any tips please?
Same...

I’ve got a job on using parex egi gf. I am wondering what the best procedure is to finish it because I’ve not used it before.
Used plenty of monorex gf and I just rule off float with a poly float and sponge to finish.
Same for this gear too?

I have installed a render carrier board on a job (customer is supplying the materials)
So I now need to tape the joints and have asked for the filler and tape and he says that just the ordinary joint scrim is fine???
Surely this can't be?
I have these walls at home to sort out.
They are 2ft thick stone and earth walls and had previously been dot and dabbed with plasterboard about 25yrs ago. I pulled all the board off as it was getting damp and the boards were crumbling up.
I intend to stud out in front of the walls, insulate with...
I have a customer who would like the brick plinths on his house rendered over.
I am intending to paint red-grit over the brick and would like to apply a bagged colour render over.
Can anyone suggest a suitable product that can finish similar to sand and cement.
Thanks

Anyone know of any merchants in west wales area that stock ocr? My local ones don't stock it and are only interested in getting some in if it is more than a pallet and I only need enough for about 80m2.
Been having some time off from the forum.
Been multi trading today as I have no inside work ready till new year.
Put a mirror and a couple of curtain rails up for my wife's aunt.
Got paid with these.
4 tins of Stella.
Can't upload pics for some reason. Says I have exceeded quota????
I renovated a property last year and yesterday the owners phoned me saying that the bathroom wall is damp because the rain is coming through the wall.
Anyway I think it is condensation but the property owners will not take my word for it.
The problem area is an exterior wall, upstairs, one brick...
Subbed out some work to a bricky to extend some walls up and lay some slabs on a job I've been on.
One side of the wall is fine but this is what is on the other end just because he could not be bothered to cut a block to widen things a bit, so I've got to dub out about 3 inches instead. He fcukd...
My faith in human nature has been restored!
Did a job a couple of weeks ago and had not invoiced them as yet as in up to my eyes in work and behind with the paperwork. Anyway the fella rings me up last night and asks how much he owes me and can he borrow my cemet mixer. So I said "yes no problem...
I few weeks ago I reversed into a customer's car which she had parked behind me. I feel such a t**t but I did not see it in my mirrors.
Anyway it was not a major prang but I told her to get it fixed and I'd pay for it save me losing my no claims etc.
She got it fixed and then I deducted the...
Here's a job for this weekend. Sort this lock-up out. Climbing and clambering over things and losing things I need then finding things I don't need but will need is doing my nut in!
I have a job to price up. It's an old stone farmhouse which is reading 20% on the surveyors moisture meter.
At some point during the 80's the walls have been redone with float and set cement and gypsum.
The surveyor recommends "damp management" rather than trying to eradicate the dampness by...
I currently have a website by yola and I edit it myself etc... And pay £18 a year to keep my name etc...
The thing is it's c**p IMO and would like to spruce things up a bit but to be honest I am pretty clueless when it comes to this sort of thing.
If I go to a professional web builder will I be...
I've got a customer who is "tarting up" a property to sell on. I am to skimm over some artex ceilings, which is normally no problem.
Most of the ceilings are fine but one is cracked in many places but not loose or bouncy. It seems solid.
If I grit and over skimm I'm sure the cracks would come...
Called in on a job today (that I'm due to plaster when ready for me) to see how things were coming along, only to find that the chippies on the job have put the covings on and are intending to put the skirtings on too!
Still wound up about it now
What are your thoughts on this as they said to me...
This problem is in my own house on one of the old original stone walls which is 2.5 ft thick.
The place was renovated about 25 yrs ago, the stone walls were meant to be injected (but how can this be done with a stone wall this thick I don't know?) and then have just been dot and dabbed with...
I've never tried venetian plastering but would like to give it a go.
Where is a good place to get some stuff to try it out?
Is there much demand for it if I was to add it to my services (once competent)?
I'm doing a garage conversion to a room and the plasterboard ceiling has been up for years unskimmed and a quarter of it has been painted with emulsion.
I'm going to skimm it but my experience with old plasterboard is that the plaster will dry quick and this ceiling is approx 30m2! Also the bit...
I am working on a house renovation at the moment and the gable end wall has some cracks in the render, not big cracks but small narrow ones. The render is well bonded and will be tough work to hack it off which is what I intended to do. Is there another option? Is there something I can paint or...
I have 15 bags of Weber Cullamix Tyrolene in cream colour left over from a job if anyone is interested in taking it off my hands???
god only knows how long it will be in the shed for or when the next tyrolene job wil be:confused:
I have not done a great deal of tyrolene apart from patching up and small areas
I now have a bungalow to do for a customer 120m2.
I have the backing coat all done and the customer is asking if the reveals and plinth can be smothe instead of textured like the main face of the wall.
Can I mix the...
Used my plaziflex for the first time today and yesterday and i must say I am impressed on the results:RpS_lol:
have always been a bit sceptical but I got one myself and tested it out on a rescimm job and it worked perfectly for me. My tennis elbow loved it too so less of the export to numb the...
Is there anywhere i can buy a EWI system from without being registered to a certain manufacturer eg wetherby Rockwool weber etc?

I have experience with Rockwool's Rockshield system and...
I took some invoices round to a couple of customers the a couple of weeks ago. I saw them in person but I did not expect them to pay there and then.

Second customer: "thanks mate il see you...
