In fact I actually did offer to take them off and he said he’d do it himself. I just didn’t question it.
I’ll be questioning and researching everything from now on that’s for sure!
I would have been happy to do all of this, but was told it was fine. I didn’t expect to have to research myself how to plaster to make sure he was telling me the right things.
no worktops apart from sink (which is being replaced anyway). Everything was taken out of the room apart from the boiler and pipes, which probably do count as awkward bits I guess. But nothing to protect, we even had the floor covered already.
Well we called/text/left voicemails and never heard back. One was a friends brother-in-law, one was a friend of the family, others were recommended.
I have a few shots of the corners, where the walls meet ceiling, etc. But will have to take full shots tomorrow if you would like to see them then
Apologies for not being an expert and knowing what price to expert. As I said, I wasn’t just after a cheap job. I wanted a GOOD job.
I would have been happy to pay more but didn’t know what price I should expect.
Was I stupid? Probably! I’ve learnt from this for the future though, but I refuse...
I did offer to remove all of the socket covers before he started but he told me he’d do it. I asked if there was anything else we could do before he started (he came to view the kitchen twice before he started) and was told no and that it was fine. I was never told I needed to remove anything...
See I thought this was a pretty normal price as I obviously had no clue. But I would have been okay paying more than that. I was definitely not just after a cheap job, otherwise I just wouldn’t have bothered getting it done at all.
I’ve definitely learnt a lot from this situation but I’m not...
I can’t remember if it was 5 or 6, sorry.
they never even called us back, let alone came and looked to give us a quote so we definitely didn’t go for the cheapest quote.
We’ve lived 6 months with just a worktop toaster oven, microwave, kettle and coffee machine on a kitchen table. And a sink...
That’s for confirming my own thoughts. I haven’t paid him a penny yet and just got back from citizens advice where they confirmed not to pay.
I have to give him another chance (in writing) to put it right, which I’m not comfortable with tbh, but as long as I have people with me I guess I have to.
New member here hoping to get advice on a bad plastering job.
I’ve posted to fill story over in the general topics forum and would appreciate any advice.t
Thank you
I’ve posted a few more photos where it looks even worse! but they’re still waiting moderator approval.
This surely isn’t a standard I should just accept?
Hello,
I’m having a big problem with my plastering. We needed the whole kitchen replastered but no recommended plasterers we’re getting back to us (we tried around 5 or 6). After 6 months with no kitchen (this time was spent sorting other bits out too, not just waiting for a plasterer) at all we...
