I bought this property recently and got this surprise. So have no clue about the history behind this plaster. Not sure if it is a severe issue or can be fixed easily.

I have noticed plaster coming off on one side of the ceiling in the first floor bedroom. What can be the reason for this. I believe there is cold water tank in the loft above as well.
No other side of this room ceiling has this issue. Adjacent other bedroom has also no sign of plaster...
