I'd have turned up anyway (if it wasn't that far). What text message? Just to give em grief. Hope you didn't buy any mats the night before.

Fortunately I pulled another job forward, wish I could charge when this happens. I guess taking a deposit is away round it.

I tell you what if that happened to me, tell you what I would've done!!!!

I would have read the message :RpS_unsure:
Then a big smile would appear on my face :RpS_biggrin:
Then I'd get back under the covers :RpS_thumbsup:

put in ya terms and conditions, that if material has been ordered for that particular job, and cancellation has been made 24hours prior to work undertaken, put that customer is liable for costs and should be payable. (ie: fuel for van to collect, and also if its specialist gear you have bought for that particular job that nobody else would use)
also an idea, put a cancellation fee in your terms to cover you in case you haven't got nothing else that week.
i would not be surprised FreeD if someone is going to do that job cheaper with him cancelling at short notice.

they wouldn't cancel a direct debit for a brand new car they like, but at the current times it's dog eat dog.

i had a couple like this few years ago priced a job all accepted and on the morning of the start (before i had left) rang me to say sparks wassnt finished can i leave it a week and he will ring me wen its ready and ive never herd from him since:RpS_cursing:
and this year i had one that was all set to go all the priced accepted 3 weeks prior to me starting the job turned up in the morning with a lab got me gear out and the guy said by the way ive had a price for about half your price unless you can match it i dnt want you to do anything:RpS_cursing::RpS_cursing:

We went to do a little job (two small ceilings), turned up Monday morning - knocked on the door and bloke answers saying 'Oh, I had it done Saturday. Sorry I should've rung you but forgot..'
A few choice words were exchanged..

Another job was to skim some board-work in a lounge - just patching where there'd been a leak. Young Chinese lass's house - said her husband had fecked off and left her a few months previous.. She was nicely built and was bending over in front of us on purpose - even told us she hadn't had it in ages.. We agree to come the following day at 8.30am and skim it for her. We turned up and waited outside for an hour but no one was at home. So we bugged off as we had other work to do. Good job really as she was gagging for it and we both fully expected to be stuck up it.. Had to find out if it was true that it goes the other way :rolleyes)

Definitely female mate, and a camel toe you could run a marble down - jeans so tight they looked sprayed on.. Nice bit of frontage as well - not yer usual two aspirins on an ironing board. :RpS_thumbsup:

did she love you long time
Not even short time - she'd buggered off out and wasn't back when we called at the time we agreed - she rung later but too late as we were busy. Good job really as our lass wouldn't have been happy if she'd found out (bloody tempting though..)

We've had customers (and builders) give us plans to price up inc. quantities (which has cost us to get done) then give the work to someone else. Now we'll price them up with a total but be buggered if they get the quantities - some get pissed off when we don't give them and we tell them why.. You can tell what they're thinking by the silence. Not being used as a pricing machine.

he read some of 3D's posts on here and bailed................:RpS_lol:

lol probably!

He said he was called into work and couldn't get the key to me. F**k knows never met the guy was on day rate, sounded camp as f**k so probably for the best avoided a sore arse.

Haha, did a big job years ago for a high flying American bloke - he knew his stuff. His boyfriend on the other hand minced around with his handbag slung over his shoulder. We'd shout 'backs against the walls boys..' To which he'd give a funny look, go 'Mmmm..' and mince off.. Pissed ourselves laughing - and they thought it was funny as well.
