had a good 1 the other day. my old man speaks to a guy down the pub. hes about 26. used to an estate agent. so a nice guy :o. anyway. a yr or so ago he did a course. now hes a "plasterer" my old man keeps saying to me, this guy is always flat out, he must be good, why dont u ask him to help u out on jobs. i have repeatedly said for the last yr, coz he'll be s**t. anyway, bumped into his mate the other day, and asked, is he seriously busy, coz this isnt the best of times for work as it is, let alone for a courser. and his mate says, hes got no work atall, he just blags it down the pub to make out that hes half decent.

and that says it all :-*

Yeah do the course mate. There's hardly any plasterers around at the minute. You'll get loads of work. Especially if you charge 50 a day

I did 2 years at college. 1 day at college, 2 days for a pair of cowboys. Even after finishing the course my skimming and rendering wearn't realy at a high level. I would say after 4 years that I'm quit good, and worth the money I charge. I reckon though, it should take another 2 years before I'd class myself as very good. Level 1 is very basic, you could probably learn the same amount from a book. Best bet is to try and do some work experiance with your mate before spending any money. If you do the course then work with him for a few years. Good luck though
