Hi all, I priced a job, and it was a fair price, hack off and re-render, didn't get it, as the customer decided to go with some eastern European guys, who were much, much cheaper, and quote from the customer " I don't know how you can justify your price, compared to them"
anyway, take a look at the pics. sometimes you get what you deserve for not listening.

What's the bottom half?the top is obviously a poor attempt at a scratch coat but can't work out what's going on at the bottom,(on a phone)

Brickwork. I looked at the other side. They have gone straight over the building sand with about a 3-1 washed sand and cement, its as rough as hell.

Let them get on with it buddy.

I had some very good advice from a guy on here who told me that the customers who want cheap/budget jobs doing are more hassle than they are worth and it's true, you probably dodged a bullet.

The very fact your potential customer was even ringing Eastern Europeans to get quotes says the lot.

Don't let it bother you, you'll get as much satisfaction from driving past it every week watching it crumble and shell week by week as you would have doing it properly for them and being proud of your work.

That was a standard scratch about 20 years ago in eastern Europe then everyone started ewi there
Piece of roof batten with nails through it, also there's no such thing as plasterer in eastern Europe brickies used to do the traditional rendering

You have to look at it like this too, foreign labour, the are taught the trade in their own country, working with different materials and working to different regulations.

They also have different standards and levels of pride in their work, a s**t render jobs might look pretty good on a Romanian estate, but obviously it's not up to scratch when it's the side of someone's £200,000 house in a nice area of England.

I have nothing against anyone coming to this country for a better life, but we see all too often, foreign labour bringing their own work ethics and standards.

I had a Romanian guy ring me for a job last week, Andreas, seemed like a nice guy, probably could spread too, ex British Gas apparently doing EWI, would have probably saved me a few bob too, but it's not worth the risk, his finish would have probably been to a low standard.

You see it all to often, I posted pictures the other week of a Chinese k rend job, I'm sat on my patio now overlooked by a Chinese extension, it looks abysmal, gobbo snots, crooked brickwork etc.

Just different standards, and if customers want lower standards so they can pay a lower price then let them have it.

I'd put rendering your house on par with buying a car, both sit on the front of your house for everyone to see, both should show their value and sometimes people just fancy paying £300 for a P reg Ford Fiesta rather than buying something nice that looks good, will last and probably save you money in the long run.

Nice pics

Looks like same guys don't one near me in Ormskirk. The scratch looks like a potatoe waffle and its all over not to mention the mess all over the property. Some right rough outfits near me from what I have seen on the wall.

Hey lads a miss is not a feature, its a deffect!
And yes the wall is suppose to be flat and plum.

Have u seen some of their tools tho ? They don't like spending on new scrape floats they will use anything

I have no right to judge anyone, as I'm from Hungary, but I seen some crap over the years this one from last week, under a staircase looks pretty from an English guy, to be fair his flat surfaces were ok, just to make it clear I got no intention to start a war on this.
As you said some people got pride in their work some haven't, eastern European standard not lower than the English

I can only speak from experience buddy, I haven't seen cheap foreign labour live up to the usual standard.

As said, I have no problem with people coming to England from anywhere, but it helps everyone if the materials used here are learnt to be used correctly, a half decent standard of work is put into practice.

When in Rome and all that.

If your here working well and doing a good job, then great stuff, that's what everybody wants, but when we have foreign labour coming in and not even attempting to work to the standard and prices that are expected the it does nobody any favours.

Ps, take that picture of my work down

I bring this up a lot on here, but I looked into moving to NZ some years ago.

Before I even got there I accepted the fact that it would probably take me a good 6 months to learn the materials, learn how things were done, learn what was an acceptable standard over there, learn what jobs were worth.

Probably same for some of the guys on here that worked in Germany and Holland some years ago, it's no good rocking up with the "we do it like this back home" attitude

exactly this.
Reckon you saved yourself a load of grief over payments etc there

Can't blame the lads doing the job no matter where there from on this occasion I would blame the customer. Last few jobs I've looked at this week I must of heard budget this and budget that, then in the last job at the end they come out with "the interior designer said this" f**k off you stupid c**t moaning about a budget and pay some c**t to tell you where to put your furniture lol

Hahaha @flynnyman ....remember quoting a kitchen ... measured up and walking out she says ' as cheap as possible' ... the page was ripped out my book when I left her house and thrown into the street ... she then asked for a detailed quote so I just picked a very high number ...

Like others have said as soon as soon I hear cheap or budget I loose all interest nowadays .... facebook pages are stupid for that now ... comes down to a price war so I rarely even bother messaging back

Just had that on a job, quoted for a couple of extras. They moaned about them budgets, etc. Then come in with Farrow and Ball paint for the entire house?!?!
Quote was 'couldn't possibly use colour match paint, as it's just not the same?!?!'
Brilliant. Only had to wait a couple of weeks for my money too. They managed to 'scrape it together!'

Sorry getting mixed up I meant the Saracens head. Can't think where the ship is in haskayne.

That job near the ship on the main drag looks a discrace, a block of waffle flats. But its nothing compared to the hash of an attempt at the Ewi in halsall that deserves an award for the worst job ever.

Did you jump ship up here then? Where u based now

The job near the Saracens is the Ewi have u seen?
Not the brick cottage next to bridge, I was gonna pop on and see them when I go for a pint but I'm a bit chocca currently. further up with eps glued on with silicone sealer about a mile on

Brilliant. Hope they're happy with the work.

Still amazes me how some of these numpty clients will go for the cheapest option without a second thought about the actual quality of the work they're going to receive.

Hell mend em'

That's the biggest Nortes and crosses games I have ever seen in my life they must be good. X
